Fans of the late NBC comedy Undateable have at least one thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: Netflix on Thursday dropped all eight episodes of the new Christmas-themed comedy Merry Happy Whatever, which reunites former castmates Bridgit Mendler and Brent Morin.
Once again, the actors are romantically paired. Mendler plays Emmy Quinn, an L.A.-based financial analyst who brings her boyfriend, struggling musician Matt (Morin), home to meet her tight-knit, Philadelphia-based brood. That includes her hard-to-impress dad, Bucks County sheriff Don (The Parent Trap‘s Dennis Quaid), who takes an immediate disliking to his youngest daughter’s significant other.

Netflix dropped the trailer for its upcoming Christmas-themed series, “Merry Happy Whatever,” on Monday, starring Dennis Quaid as Don Quinn, the father of a family that likes things done their own way during the holiday. Well, his way.
And his way doesn’t seem to include his daughter Emmy’s (Bridgit Mendler) new boyfriend Matt (Brent Morin) who wants to pop the question this Christmas.
Watch the video above, which also features Ashley Tisdale as Emmy’s sister Kayla, who is also not a big fan of Matt. Poor guy, looks like he’s got a rough road ahead this holiday season.

Pivoting off of the success of the Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda vehicle “Grace and Frankie,” Netflix is filling out its roster of comedies starring beloved older actresses with stoner sitcom “Disjointed.” In it, Kathy Bates plays Ruth a former advocate for legalizing marijuana who opens a dispensary in Los Angeles with the help of her son. The newly released trailer promises plenty of high-induced hijinks, with Ruth parading around in a weed-adorned headdress in an epic 4/20 celebration. “Wet Hot American Summer” star Ken Marino makes a guest appearance in the trailer, although his wig-choice seems questionable at best.

You know how they say smoking marijuana can make anything funny? Well, whoever said that never watched Netflix’s appallingly bad new weed-com Disjointed. Because it would take a tractor-trailer full of ganja to make this mess tolerable.

“Disjointed” is a title sporting so many puns that unpacking them proves irresistible. (Pun-haters to the back.) The core word “joint” refers to both a marijuana cigarette and the slang term for any ‘ol place at all; like, say, the dispensary where Kathy Bates’ long-term pot advocate, Ruth, legally sells medicinal and recreational weed in the new Netflix comedy.
“Head to Ruth’s joint and buy as many joints as you’d like!” is a slogan Ruth herself might share in the series: an easy, obvious joke for a show built (mostly) around simple pleasures.
Fans of equally elementary wordplay are probably sold, but not so fast — the new Netflix comedy unveils a harsh buzz upon further pun-vestigation. Optimists could argue “disjointed” refers to the the pieced together family of pot dealers, smokers, and breeders who all work out of Ruth’s shop. That’s a nice thought, but after binging four episodes,...

This is certainly so for late twenty-somethings Sasha and Paige, the perky protagonists in director Susanna Fogel’s spry, down-to-earth dramedy Life Partners. Charming, quirky and breezily spirited, Fogel presents a chippy but honest character study of female empowerment that is certainly infectious and relatable. Life Partners is a precise look at the subtle anxieties of growing up and possibly growing apart relating to contemporary womanhood.
Fogel establishes a clear cut blueprint for long-time best buddies Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) whose closeness and continued bonding are puzzling given the fact that they are opposite souls with different philosophies on life.
Starring: Leighton Meester, Gillian Jacobs, Adam Brody, Gabourey Sidibe, Beth Dover, Mark Feuerstein, Kate McKinnon, Abby Elliott, Greer Grammer, Elizabeth Ho

Castle (Nathan Fillion) is on a photoshoot at the police department with some chicks dressed in uniforms. Why the police station? Just cos it's about Niki Heat and Beckett (Stana Katic) has to give an interview to Amy (Elizabeth Ho), 'Cosmo', as she calls her the inspiration behind Castle's new book. Castle claims to have offered them insight on the profession and solved some of their toughest cases. Well that's true as seen from my season 1 reviews. She tells the Captain (Reuben Santiago-Hudson) she wants him gone and calls them 'bachelor party strippers.' Captain agrees Castle has helped on cases and the mayor wants him here, also it's hard to get good press for the department. Esposito (Jon Huertas) asks why Beckett doesn't wear a uniform like that. Er she's not a uniformed cop anymore ha. Beckett is still angry Castle delved into her mother's death...

Exclusive: Colin Egglesfield (The CW’s Melrose Place) has landed a series regular role on Lifetime’s upcoming drama series The Client List. Based on the network’s 2010 original movie, the Sony TV-produced series stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as a Texas housewife who, after being deserted by her husband, takes a job at a seemingly traditional day spa in a neighboring town but realizes that the parlor offers way more than massages and ends up partnering with the parlor’s feisty and disorganized owner to run the business. All My Children alum Egglesfield will play a new character, Hewitt’s brother-in-law. Elizabeth Ho (Melissa & Joey) has joined the cast of TBS’ half-hour comedy pilot Bff, from Conan O’Brien’s production company and Warner Horizon. It centers on Mark (Jay Malone), a family man who quits his day job and returns to the neighborhood where he grew up. There, he...

After spending untold amounts of cash on hundreds of dramas and comedies — most of which will never make it to your living rooms — the five broadcast networks will begin announcing in New York next week which projects are good enough to earn a coveted fall pickup. (NBC and Fox will present their fall schedule to advertisers on Monday, followed by ABC on Tuesday, CBS on Wednesday and the CW on Thursday).
Buzz is already strong for several projects (for more on the hot ones, click here). But every year, we always wonder what diamond-in-the-rough was left on the cutting room...

Lauren Cohan is returning to the CW with the lead female role in Heavenly, a new pilot about a dedicated San Francisco attorney and a former angel who have paired up to “save the futures” of the people they help. Cohan will play Lily DeMarco, “a deceptively young and friendly” young attorney at a legal aid clinic. Her cohort is Dashiel Coffee (played by Ben Aldridge of Lark Rise to Candleford), a “former angel only recently turned human” who tries to save the souls of those Lily saves in court.

Cohan has guest starred as broker/thief of supernatural objects, Bela Talbot, in the CW’s Supernatural and the vampire, Rose, in the CW’s The Vampire Diaries. She is currently guest starring in NBC’s Chuck as Vivian McArthur, baddie Volkoff’s (Timothy Dalton) estranged daughter.

Deadline are reporting that The CW have a pilot in development called Heavenly, about a San Francisco attorney called Lily DeMarco (The Vampire Diaries’ Lauren Cohan) who’s partnered by an angel-turned-human Dashiell Coffee (Lark Rise To Candleford’s Ben Aldridge), to save people from jail and their souls from hell.
They are joined by Deputy District Attorney Sasha Nouri (Melissa & George’s Elizabeth Ho) and guided by pastor Owen Moretti (90210′s Ryan Eggold.) The pilot is being written by Richard Hatem (Supernatural, The Dead Zone).
Heavenly has broad similarities to the currently in-development British series Eternal Law, from the co-creators of Life On Mars, which also concerns angels sent to Earth to become lawyers. Coincidence, I’m sure, but does the idea of angels tackling a profession commonly linked to demons appeal to you? It seems to be what’s in vogue just now…...

Lauren Cohan has landed the female lead in the CW supernatural drama pilot Heavenly. Ryan Eggold also has been tapped for a lead role in the project, from CBS TV Studios and writer Richard Hatem. Heavenly centers on Lily (Cohan), a dedicated young attorney, and a former angel, Dashiel Coffee (Ben Aldridge), only recently turned human, who tackle cases at the attorney's legal aid clinic -- she saves clients' butts while he saves their souls. Eggold, repped by Gersh and Untitled, will play a pastor whom Dashiel seeks counsels from. Also previously cast in the pilot is Elizabeth Ho. Cohan has recurred on two CW series, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries. Kevin Zegers (Dawn of the Dead) has landed a lead role opposite Jimmy Wolk in ABC's Georgetown. Written by Will Fetters, it centers on Andrew Pierce (Wolk), an effortlessly charming and brilliant Yale graduate and the youngest presidential speechwriter on record.

ABC Family is introducing a new sitcom, "Melissa & Joey" to their line-up -- a "Who's the Boss?" for 2010.
It centers around a city councilwoman named Mel Burke (Melissa Joan Hart), who becomes the legal guardian of her teenage niece and nephew in the wake of her sister and brother-in-law going to jail for white collar crimes.
Joe Longo (Joey Lawrence) is one of the victims of said crimes. He loses his job, condo and car and instead ends up as Mel's nanny. Wacky hijinks ensue. Or at least that's what the laugh track would have us think.
The main points of our amusement in the first episode come in the form of Mel's interactions with her colleague Rhonda (Elizabeth Ho) -- they have a dueling phone conversations scene that is particularly delightful -- but overall the laughs are few and far between.
What the show is lacking is a sexual tension between the leads,...

Cinemax has given a series order to "Femme Fatales," a late-night program that will showcase noir-style mysteries with strong female leads, according to the Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed.
The show will have a "strong erotic quality," but not fall into the "Skinemax"-type programming that the channel is known for.
"We have an opportunity to tell some sexy and thrilling stories that all have powerful women," says Bob Conte, senior vp creative affairs.
The show's co-creator and co-executive producer Mark A. Altman ("Castle") says the show will feature a mysterious narrator, sort of "a sexy Rod Serling" from "The Twilight Zone," and they hope that the show will attract different big name directors who want to tell stand-alone mysteries.
Here's our short list for the narrators, leads and directors:
