Star Trek: Discovery‘s penultimate episode ends with Michael (Sonequa Martin-Green) in a precarious situation. When the Breen get their hands on the Progenitors’ tech first, the Discovery crew stages a heist in hopes of getting it, and Michael, Book (David Ajala), Adira (Blu del Barrio), and Rhys (Patrick Kwok-Choon) sneak on board, disguised. Things, of course, go sideways, and Michael ends up following Moll (Eve Harlow) into a portal in the Progenitors’ tech … which the crew does get off the Breen ship only for a white light to come exploding out of it and scans show no sign of Michael. Uh-oh! Below, del Barrio talks about Adira’s journey, the responsibility they take on in this episode, and more, plus teases how the series ends in the May 30 finale. Adira’s really come...

This post contains spoilers for "Star Trek: Discovery."
In its final season, "Star Trek: Discovery" has reintroduced a species of aliens that "Star Trek" fans haven't seen in live-action in decades. The Breen, a mysterious warrior race that first appeared in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," have made their surprise return in recent weeks thanks to the gooier half of ill-fated courier duo Moll (Eve Harlow) and L'ak (Elias Toufexis).
In their original incarnation, the Breen appeared clad in metal helmets with snout-like protrusions and green laser-like eye bands. They were typically covered up in outfits featuring diagonal metal bands, and though characters on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" often made offhand comments about what the then-unseen aliens might be like, little was explained about their culture in the 20th century "Star Trek" shows. Enter "Discovery," which has a long track record of building upon and deepening existing in-universe lore.

Has anyone else noticed that the final season of "Discovery" has started to feel a little ... monotonous? Almost every episode to this point has followed a similar structure: Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her crew must outrun Moll (Eve Harlow) and her Breen lover L'ak (Elias Toufexis) to find the next clue to the Progenitors technology in some distant part of the galaxy, pass a series of tests in order to prove themselves worthy of such an important find, and end on a mini cliffhanger of sorts as one of the other officers announces a breakthrough to the location of the next clue. Be sure to tune in next week to see the Discovery crew creep that much closer to the ultimate power in the universe!

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Episode 7 “Erigah.”] “We’re going for empathy, and if you empathize with him and Moll, and if you were sad when this episode finishes, then we did our job,” Elias Toufexis says of his and Eve Harlow‘s Star Trek: Discovery characters in Thursday’s new episode. In it, L’ak and Moll end up back on Discovery as prisoners, with the former receiving as much medical care as Culber (Wilson Cruz) can offer, given his knowledge of the Breen. Speaking of the Breen, multiple primarchs are after L’ak in hopes of using him to secure status. L’ak and Moll, of course, just want off the ship, so he comes up with a plan: He creates a distraction by injecting himself with what ends up being a fatal dose while she gets away to the shuttle; she was supposed to beam him aboard after,...

Book (David Ajala) may not be able to get through to Moll (Eve Harlow), one of the crew’s foes this season in pursuit of a great power—and also someone he considers all he has left of family, given she’s his mentor’s daughter—but maybe the rest of the final season of Star Trek: Discovery will be a bit easier for him? Not likely. Not only is there his and Captain Michael Burnham’s (Sonequa Martin-Green) complicated relationship, but the crew’s mission is to find technology from a race of ancient beings called the Progenitors who created life as we know it. Below, Ajala teases what’s ahead for both and more Grudge, plus talks about saying goodbye (or not) to Book and the show. Book and Michael’s relationship remains so complicated. "Star Trek" might represent an idealistic vision of a bolder and brighter future, but the last few seasons of "Discovery" have proven that there will always be bad guys with a penchant for muddying up those ambitions in unexpected ways -- even in the 32nd Century. While the Borg, Romulans, and the warlord Khan often have a stranglehold on the title of "Best 'Trek' villains," one alien species in particular has remained shrouded in mystery for decades. First mentioned in foreboding whispers in "The Next Generation" and finally seen in the flesh (well, so to speak) in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," the Breen have played a significant role throughout the franchise in the years since ... yet Trekkies still had to wait until now to actually see what lies underneath their distinctive helmets.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the strangest of them all? In "Star Trek," that title goes to one of the zaniest concepts ever introduced into the canon: The Mirror Universe. The idea of our alternate selves living completely different lives somewhere out there is no longer the sole domain of perhaps the nerdiest franchise in all of sci-fi, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or the best episode of "Community" ever made. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Episode 5 “Mirrors.”] It’s far from a meet cute and in no way the start of a rom-com, but Star Trek: Discovery does offer a look at how Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis) first crossed paths and what led them to become Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her crew’s foes in the latest episode. “Mirrors” takes Michael and Book (David Ajala), who has realized Moll is the daughter of his mentor, into a pocket of interdimensional space and onto the abandoned Iss Enterprise, where they try to get through to Moll and L’ak with both pairs after the same thing: the next piece of the puzzle that will unlock the ultimate power everyone’s after this season. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Episode 4 “Face the Strange.”] The crew’s latest encounter with Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis) sends two of its members on quite the timey wimey trip—including to Star Trek: Discovery‘s past and (hopefully not) future. Their foes planted a time bug on Adira’s (Blu Del Barrio) sleeve in the previous episode, and as a result, Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her Number One, Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie), go jumping through time. At one point, Burnham even encounters herself—the Season 1 version, fresh off being a mutineer and not trusted by any of the crew (including Airiam!). Revisiting the past version of her character and fighting her as the present-day one “was one of my favorite moments,” Martin-Green raves to TV Insider. “We had such an amazing time shooting it, and I loved being able to see the contrast between...

Star Trek: Discovery co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman previously told TVLine that the sci-fi drama’s fifth and final season was dependent on a “very significant” Star Trek Easter egg, and we finally know what he meant by that.
The season’s first two episodes, which are now streaming on Paramount+, sent the Discovery crew on one last adventure to find the missing clues spread throughout the galaxy that will lead them to the ancient device used by an ancient species, known as the Progenitors, to create life as we know it.

When producer Alex Kurtzman launched Star Trek: Discovery nearly a decade ago, the idea of bringing the Star Trek franchise back to TV was a gamble. Back in 2015, the most popular science fiction TV series were either on the SyFy Channel or Doctor Who. After having gone out with a whimper with Enterprise in 2005, could Trek rematerialize as a fully rejuvenated version of itself? Could a mainstream audience be enticed back to the final frontier by yet another new crew? At first, the answer was maybe.
After several delays, Star Trek: Discovery debuted in 2017 on a newly minted streaming service, CBS All-Access, and the reviews were mixed. Approaching the final season of Star Trek: Discovery feels bittersweet. The adventures of this crew have been unique, primarily because of their time-jumping. The future of Star Fleet always had potential, and Discovery tapped into that well. No matter how you feel about Star Trek: Discovery, it’s been a show that wears its heart on its sleeve and opened the door to new viewers in the process. The final season kicked off at SXSW 2024, and the big screen premiere lived up to the venue.

Captain Burnham will lead the crew of the USS Discovery on one final mission in 2024, and a new clip finally showed just what the team is up against.
Star Sonequa Martin-Green introduced the series-ending clip alongside showrunner Michelle Paradise at Ccxp in São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday. In the scene, Captain Burnham is joined by Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala) as they face off against a shape-shifting being that also can cloak, making it a doubly formidable opponent.
“We have to get past it,” Burnham said. “See if you can communicate with it.” After Book communicated with the creature via his mind, Burnham asked, “Did you pick up anything?”
“Yeah,” Book told her. “It’s really pissed off.”

When Paramount+ brought Trek back to television in September 2017 with Star Trek: Discovery's double-decker premiere event, it broke ground on a road that would see the rebirth of the Trek franchise.
Six years later, Star Trek: Discovery has saved the galaxy multiple times; traveled through the mycelial network, to the Mirror Universe and back, forward in time nine hundred years, and beyond the edge of the known universe; and spawned the highly successful spin-off Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
In March, Paramount+ announced the fifth season will be the USS Discovery's final mission. We've gathered all the intel on what it'll entail, who's on board, and when you can expect to buckle up and hold on as Michael Burnham and her crew let 'er fly one last time.
What can we expect from the Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 plot?

At the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount brought along several clips of their upcoming "Star Trek" shows. As of this writing, "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" is nearing the end of its second season, and "Star Trek: Lower Decks" will likely debut its fourth season sometime later in the summer. The second and final season of "Star Trek: Prodigy" will air in the winter of 2023, and the fifth and final season of "Star Trek: Discovery" will air in the early months of 2024.
Paramount revealed a five-minute clip of an upcoming episode of "Star Trek: Discovery," and it looks to be as high-octane as the show has been to date. "Discovery" is notoriously far more violent than the Trek shows that preceded it, and it has a higher action quotient than most of the other new "Star Trek" shows. There may still be months until we see the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery (in 2024), but as part of Paramount+‘s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, a sneak peek featuring Sonequa Martin-Green and three new cast members was released. In the clip, Captain Michael Burnham (Martin-Green) is in pursuit of Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis) when a surprise leads to her hanging onto their starship while it travels at warp speed. There’s “never a dull moment,” Michael says, assuring Saru (Doug Jones), who’s back on Discovery, “I’m not dead yet.” Then another ship comes to her aid, with Captain Rayner (Callum Keith Rennie) … but the two don’t exactly see eye-to-eye when it comes to how to handle Moll and L’ak. Watch the sneak peek above for much more, including who’s in sick bay, if Rayner listens to Michael,...

This post contains spoilers for "The Night Agent," the novel and the TV series.
Before "The Night Agent" arrived on Netflix, it was sitting on shelves at Barnes & Noble. The 2023 political thriller series is an adaptation of Matthew Quirk's eponymous 2019 novel. A former journalist, Quirk writes breezy paperback thrillers in the Tom Clancy mold. "The Night Agent" is no different — a low-ranking FBI agent answers a call from a woman who escaped an assassin and together they come across a conspiracy within the White House.
That said, Netflix's "The Night Agent" is a very loose adaptation, as it uses the novel's premise and main characters to tell a different story. The novel's core characters — Agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), and White House Chief of Staff Diane Farr (Hong Chau) — are in the series. However, it also invents many new characters to fill out the supporting cast.

“Ginny & Georgia” has been chased off of Netflix’s all-time Top 10 list for English-language TV shows. In just its third week, “The Night Agent” has reported to the streamer’s overall chart in ninth place, dropping “Inventing Anna” to 10 and sending “Ginny & Georgia” back onto Route 20.
With another 130.48 million hours viewed in Week 3, “The Night Agent,” which premiered its first season on March 22, has now been viewed for a total of 515.57 million hours, per Netflix. The running total puts it between Season 1 of “The Witcher” (541.01 million hours) at No. 8 and limited series “Inventing Anna” (511.92 million hours). Netflix cuts off its all-time Top 10 lists after a show or movie’s first 28 days of availability, which means “The Night Agent” still has nine days left to go to add to its tally.

Spoilers for "The Night Agent" follow.
"The Night Agent" proved to be a success for Netflix, so it's no surprise the platform has renewed the political thriller for a second season. Adapted from a novel by Matthew Quirk, "The Night Agent" follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso). Peter's first call comes from Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), a niece of two Night Action agents. With Season 4, Love Is Blind has finally made the inevitable transition from reality dating show to reality-like show filled with people-like things.
The Netflix series (which is currently dropping new episodes on Fridays) has solidified its predictable formula comprised of trauma dumping, “energy” compatibility and musical performances by tone-deaf men. The intention for contestants is still to find love, but no longer with the person in the opposite pod. They’re looking for love, affirmation and adoration from us, the audience, by playing pretend and replicating behaviors from former seasons as if the show is a sport that can be mastered.
