Will Smith is one of Hollywood’s most prominent leading men, but his actions at the Oscars in 2022 became a turning point in his career. The actor had to suffer the consequences of slapping Chris Rock, who was the host that year.
A lot has been said about the infamous incident, with Smith acknowledging his mistake. However, his Bad Boys 4 co-star, John Salley, feels that the incident was probably a boon for Smith.

Why does John Salley, the star of Bad Boys 4, feel the Oscar feud helped Will Smith?
Will Smith found himself at the heart of a massive controversy when he slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards. The former was nominated for Best Actor for his role in King Richard, playing the father of tennis aces Serena Williams and Venus Williams, while the latter hosted the event.

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith play two Miami narcotics detectives, Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery, in the Bad Boys franchise. The first film in the franchise was made in 1995 when Smith was still the young star from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. However, Lawrence was a major star at the time and it will surprise many fans to learn that he commanded a higher paycheck than Smith.

One of the teases unveiled at CinemaCon this week during the Sony panel is the follow-up to the successful third entry in the Martin Lawrence-Will Smith buddy cop action comedy Bad Boys. Bad Boys for Life became 2020’s most successful movie when it got its release at the start of the year before Covid would shut down theaters for some time. Even without the pandemic, the film likely would have raked in the cash due to the popularity of the first two films.
According to Deadline, Ioan Gruffudd, known for his turn as Reed Richards in 2005’s Fantastic Four, has now joined the cast. It has been reported that Gruffudd will be playing a character named Lockwood, who is a high-profile attorney running for an election. The plot is being kept under wraps; however, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence would make an appearance at the Sony panel via...

In his first series regular role since 2014, Martin Lawrence has signed on to star in the English-language adaptation of the acclaimed Israeli Hot original series “Nehama,” from Topic Studios.
The series tells the story of a happily married father of five (Lawrence) who quits his suffocating job in tech to chase his original love of stand-up comedy. When his wife suddenly dies, he must decide whether he should pursue his dream and risk losing his kids — who are lost without their mother. Described as “hilarious, intelligent, and raw,” the series examines what it means “to seek pleasure and find comfort in the face of tragedy and tackles the timeless challenge of ‘wanting to have it all’ from a uniquely male perspective, with some twists along the way.”

“Bad Boys for Life,” the third installment in the late ’90s, early 2000s-era action/comedy franchise, exploded back on the scene over the long Martin Luther King day holiday weekend. In reviving the nearly 25-year-old franchise, Sony Pictures racked up $73 million at the domestic box office in the film’s debut.
And with a $90 million production budget, “Bad Boys for Life” succeeded where many recent reboots, revivals and sequels have missed the mark — including several at Sony.
“Bad Boys for Life” brought back the dynamic duo of Will Smith (Mike Lowery) and Martin Lawrence (Marcus Burnett), a big reason why the film worked. But leading the show this time out wasn’t Michael Bay, who helmed the first two films; Sony placed the daunting task in the hands of relative Hollywood newcomers Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi.

Before he became a cynical parody of himself, director Michael Bay made an efficient 1995 feature debut with Bad Boys, a buddy-cop flick that came in hot on the star power of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami detectives who never learned how to play by the rules. By the time the 2003 sequel Bad Boys 2 rolled around, Bay had become the Bay we know and loathe (remember Pearl Harbor?) and buried the duo’s chemistry in his patented brand of violent noise, racial profiling, sexist smarm and dumb dick jokes.

What defines a “Bad Boys” movie? It’s been 17 years since the last sequel came out, but some of the key elements are still easy to pin down: You need Will Smith as flashy Detective Sergeant Michael “Mike” Lowery, and Martin Lawrence as his slightly more sedate platonic life partner Detective Sergeant Marcus Burnett. You need Miami in all of its hyper-saturated splendor — nuclear orange skies, bikinis on the boardwalk, and a bass so thick that it seems to bounce the entire city. And you need an unfiltered mega-dose of whatever mutant testosterone has been oozing out of Michael Bay’s every pore since he first hit puberty. We’re talking all three of the big Gs: guns, gangsters, and gay panic. Maybe also some horny rats.
After that, things get a little hazy; “Bad Boys” once represented a watershed moment for black actors in the blockbuster era, but cops,...

Will Smith may be heading to the big screen as a giant blue genie in Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ soon enough but the Fresh Prince is also now attached to play the Father of Tennis greats, Serena and Venus Williams in ‘King Richard’.
The straight biopic will focus on Richard William’s bringing up his two daughters and training the girls without any background in the sport. Williams overcame tremendous hardship, scepticism and his a troubled past to raise two of the game’s greatest players.
Richard Williams drew up a 78-page plan for their professional tennis careers when the girls were only 4 years old. He began giving them tennis lessons and the girls learned the game on cracked, weedy public courts in Compton, reportedly after their father brawled with young toughs who were not fans of the sport and would not make way. Further details have been made public on the storyline for the upcoming Will Smith follow-up ‘Bad Boys For Life’ in which Smith and Martin Lawrence reunite.
The story is said to see the Miami police department assembling an elite team called Ammo that has been tasked with taking down drug cartel leader Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio) – a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. Armas’ equally ruthless mother has tasked him with killing Mike Lowery, though the reason for doing so isn’t clear as yet.
At the same time, the Ammo team is lead by a tough and funny criminal psychologist named Rite (Paola Nunez) who also happens to be Mike’s ex-girlfriend, the one who got away. Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton also star in the film as other members of the Ammo team.

The long-awaited third film will be called Bad Boys For Life...
Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett are (almost) back, and this time it's personal (probably). Bad Boys 3 is picking up steam now, 15 years on from Michael Bay's action-packed sequel, with stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence returning to their roles, along with Joey Pants as their weary police Captain, naturally.
New story details for the third film have now arrived from a fairly reliable source in Production Weekly (via Cbr) ahead of cameras rolling:
The new instalment centres on the Miami Pd and its elite Ammo team’s attempt to take down Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio), head of a drug cartel. Armando is a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. He is committed to the work of the cartel and is dispatched by his mother to kill Mike (Will Smith). Black Lightning’s second episode of the season starts with an intense game of Chess as Whale is blaming Painkiller for not protecting Syonide from her attack last week. Whale is in no mood for excuses and after every poor move, Painkiller is beaten. Needless to say whatever “moral compass” Syonide provided Whale, is now officially gone.
Meanwhile the victims of the Freeland experiments are beginning to wake up from the pods and are using their powers in attempts to free themselves from government control. Lynn attempts to calm the escaped victim but to no avail as the unknown female victim knocks down a brick wall and escapes to the streets. After reviewing the security footage, Gambi identifies the escaped victim as Wendy, a former nursing student enabled with the power of telekinesis.

Bad Boys 3, billed as Bad Boys for Life, will see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back together in January 2020.
Bad Boys 3 or Bad Boys for Life, has been, up until now, a long-kept secret. The difficulty, as producer Jerry Bruckheimer said back in summer 2013, centered on the task of reuniting its duo headlining personnel. Back then, he was "trying to find a hole in Will Smith's schedule."
Having finally overcome dilatory issues, the long-awaited threequel revives the popular buddy cop film franchise of 1995's Bad Boys and 2003's Bad Boys II, both of which were directed by Michael Bay. While he ultimately dropped out of directing the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence revival vehicle, he would be replaced by a duo of up-and-comers in Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
