Once upon a time in Hollywood, "Latin" characters were played by actors sporting caramel-colored makeup and over-the-top accents. Today, though, Latino faces -- genuine ones -- appear throughout the multiplexes and across the TV screen.
Best of all, Latino actors aren't always noticeably "ethnic," demonstrating the increasing number of roles for Hispanic actors besides cholos and hoochie mamas.
In "Monte Carlo," Disney triple threat Selena Gomez, who is half Mexican-American, leads the cadre of up-and-coming young Latinos who are making it in Hollywood without having to hide their roots or change their surnames.
Selena Gomez
Like many of the young stars nurtured in the Disney studio system, Gomez is a media-savvy actress, singer and dancer extraordinaire. Whether she's stepping out with her boyfriend Justin Bieber (sorry, girls, she's snatched him up), starring in her own hit series "Wizards of Waverly Place" or headlining her first feature film ("Monte Carlo") with...

Nobody who knows me would ever mistake me for a prudish bluenose schoolmarm… but I feel compelled to vent about several recent pop-cultural developments that have blown even my mind and lead even me to worry that our society is rapidly going to hell in a hand-basket.
While the media has been obsessing over the online interactions between (now former) Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-ny), an unusually horny congressman, and his admirers — which, however salacious, were mutually welcomed and not in violation of any law, unlike, say, the activities of prostitution-solicitor Sen. David Vitter (R-la), who remains in office to this day — they have largely ignored the really distasteful stuff that actually reaches and could impact the behavior of young people.

You ever heard the term "Save the best for last?" Well, that perfectly exemplifies the MTV Movie Awards. The Oscars, The Golden Globes, The SAG Awards, The DGA Awards. You know why those award shows occur towards the beginning of the year? Because they don't mean squat. I mean, any award show that doesn't occur halfway through the year is just culturally inferior, right? And who would you rather trust: A bunch of old people in suits, or a 14 year old with a laptop? Yeah, that's what I thought. So if you want to hear from the generation that Matters, check out a list of winners after the jump.
Okay guys, the idiots who actually voted for this dreck are gone now (there 2 minute attention spam has ran out). You can come back out now.

Look, I'm not going to get on my soapbox and rant about the MTV Movie Awards. The mere fact that I use the phrase "get on my soapbox" is a good indication that I'm way too old to get indignant about "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" being declared the best movie of the last year or Robert Pattinson winning Best Male Performance over Jesse Eisenberg, or Justin Bieber winning Best Jaw-Dropping Moment for his concert film "Never Say Never." Wait, Justin Bieber won Best Jaw-Dropping Moment for a concert film? Aren't concerts, like, his job? What's so jaw-dropping about that? He beat Steve-o's Port-o-Potty bungee stunt in "Jackass 3D?" The man risked death by poop ingestion for our entertainment, people! This Is An Outrage That I -- ah crap, there I go getting on my old man soapbox. Sorry.

In the months leading up to the Academy Awards, the interwebs are flooded with pundit predictions on which films and folks will win the coveted Oscar.
Yet for the MTV Movie Awards? Zero. Zilch. Nada.
So taking a cue from our friends at Gold Derby, we enlisted a panel of experts to predict the winners in each of the 12 categories.
In a panel where quite nobly, no predictor took the easy route (read: picked "Twilight" in every category), it was a tight race, with a four-way tie for the top spot. Without further ado, the results:
7 Picks: Jordan Hoffman (Ugo), Eric Larnick (Moviefone), Tom O'Neil (Gold Derby), Kevin Polowy (NextMovie)
6 Picks: Aimee Carlson (Myspace), Erik Davis (Movies.com), Jen Yamato (Movieline)
4 Picks: Dave Karger (Entertainment Weekly), Mike Sampson (JoBlo), Susan Wloszczyna (USA Today)
3 Picks: Sean Phillips (Yahoo! Movies)
2 Picks: Anne Thompson (indieWire)

When it comes to voters for MTV's Movie Awards, it's Twilight or nothing. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse won every category it was nominated in. The popcorn trophy went to Kristen Stewart for Best Female Peformance (over Natalie Portman's Oscar-winning performance in Black Swan, to which Kristen mocked, "Natalie, I won the popcorn!"), Robert Pattinson for Best Male Performance (over fellow Twilight star Taylor Lautner), Best Fight for Pattinson, Xavier Samuel and Bryce Dallas Howard, and, of course, Best Movie. The biggest moment of the night came when Stewart and Pattinson won for Best Kiss and after teasing that they might kiss, Pattinson ran across the room to plant a big kiss on surprised co-star Lautner (who had also been nominated for Best Kiss with Stewart).
The second biggest moment of the night was noticing just how awkward Pattinson is off the cuff. In fact, when co-presenting the Generation Award...

I don't think I'm wrong in thinking that MTV was once geared more toward adults, even after they'd moved away from music videos. The first few seasons of "The Real World," particularly the first one, for instance, dealt with more mature individuals. Crazy? Yes. But not in a take-my-clothes-off-and-fuck-a-bedpost kind of way. "Beavis and Butthead" contained adult humor. As did "Daria" and "Aeon Flux." MTV News was a smarter, more dominant force: Kurt Loder Tabitha Soren, and John Norris put music news into the context of larger cultural issues.
If we had to find a culprit for the tweenification of MTV, it'd probably be Carson Daly and "Trl," in addition to Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and the second iteration of boy bands (MTV, I thought, weathered the New Kids on the Block years with some success). That's when it turned, right? Or is that just when I grew out of it?...

MTV’s 2011 “Movie Awards” kept its tradition as Hollywood’s most atypical and irreverent awards show with surprise appearances, raunchy roasts, exclusive sneak peeks and even a few #laserboners. The Live telecast got off to a hilarious and celeb-studded start with host Jason Sudeikis spoofing “The Hangover Part II” as he gets drunk with Justin Bartha, loses Taylor Lautner, wakes up to a tattooed Eva Mendes sleeping in a bathtub and receives some tough love from the straight-shooting Chelsea Handler. Sudeikis then launches a no-holds-barred monologue in which no one and nothing is off limits — even himself — riffing on everything from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Justin Bieber to rumors the SNL star may soon be a “baby daddy.”

I've never been a fan of awards shows sure, but if I had to pick one it would the the MTV Movie Awards. It has a sense of humor, the capacity to make fun of the films and actors its awarding -- which is a big step if you ask me, because frankly allot of these shows take themselves a little to seriously. The same can't be said about the award show that celebrates just some of the most ridiculous achievements int hollywood, for example the Best Scared-as-sh**T Performance.
One thing that does impress me about the MTV Awards is the lack of competition, it doesn't matter who wins or loses! No one cares. I mean your not going to remember anything except having a good laugh at your fellow filmmakers. Taking home a hunk of metal popcorn isn't exactly as prestigious the Oscars -- its more like the less-negative version of the Razzies.

Another year, another terrible MTV Movie Awards. "Twilight" once again won most of the awards, including Best Movie, but this time, the show reached an all-time low. The Best Jaw-Dropping Moment category included such scenes as James Franco cutting off his arm in "127 Hours," Steve-o getting a face full of human waste in "Jackass 3D," Natalie Portman pulling off the skin of her finger in "Black Swan," Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page sitting as Paris explodes and folds on itself in "Inception," and Justin Bieber singing in "Never Say Never." And Justin Bieber won. Check out the rest of the "winners" below. Best Movie: * The Twilight Saga: Eclipse * Black Swan * Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 * Inception * The Social Network Best Female Performance: * Kristen Stewart . EW’s Archana Ram already recapped what you saw on television during last night’s Twilight Promotional Show MTV Movie Awards (and asked for your thoughts, too!), but what happened in the house during the always wacky ceremony at L.A.’s Gibson Ampitheatre? Oh, so much, folks — so much! And I’ve got those deets for you, as I was there to experience the madness first hand. There’s lots to talk about: The insane fashions! The beautiful stage! The speech that charmed the crowd! And so much more, but mostly — let’s be honest — it was all just one big plug for Twilight.

The film also picked up the Best Movie honour ahead of Potter's Deathly Hallows, and the cast took to the stage to introduce an exclusive clip of their upcoming film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.
The sole winner for Team Potter was young Brit Tom Felton, who picked up the Best Villain prize for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy.
The Twilight cast members weren't the night's only multiple winners - Chloe Moretz picked up two awards for her break-out performance as a child vigilante in Kick-Ass.
The winners list is:
MTV Generation Award - Reese Witherspoon
Best Male Performance - Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse)
Best Villain - Tom Felton (Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows)
Best Jaw-Dropping Moment - Justin Bieber (Never Say Never)

Despite his first time acting in a film, Justin Bieber successfully grabbed a Golden Popcorn at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. Through his documentary "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" film, the "Baby" singing sensation took home Best Jaw-Dropping Moment trophy during the Sunday evening's show.
However, the real biggest winner of the night was actually Robert Pattinson. The English heartthrob took home three kudos from total twelve categories at the event, including Best Male Performance, Best Kiss and Best Fight from his acting in "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse".
Not only did the leading actor make a big success at the awarding event, his movie "Eclipse" also made it to take the coveted Best Movie awards this year. Meanwhile, the leading lady Kristen Stewart grabbed the Best Female Performance, beating the Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman from "Black Swan" film.
The 2011 MTV Movie Awards took place at the Gibson Amphitheater and is hosted by Jason Sudeikis.

No, bare butts weren't droppin' from the ceiling, Tom Cruise wasn't in the house as Tom Cruise or Les Grossman, and, by usual Jim Carrey MTV Movie Awards standards, Carrey's video suit was actually pretty tame (even with the copulating pooches).
This year's MTV Movie Awards were instead all about the "Twilight" stars, from Robert Pattinson's F-bomb and lip lock with his co-star (and not the one you're thinking of) to RPattz's giggly presentation to Reese Witherspoon and "Twilight's" near-sweep of the big Movie Awards categories.
Good thing host Jason Sudeikis was there to remind viewers that there were plenty of other movie stars in the A-list audience to poke fun at – which he did.

Just in case you missed the MTV Movie Awards, or changed the channel because of the totally unawesome job that Jason Sudeikis was doing as host, we’ve got the winners listed right here for you.
There aren’t really too many surprises in the list below, but I’m still scratching my head over Tom Felton’s win. Draco Malfoy as best villain? Really? Ummm… okay.
Best Movie – The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (was anyone really surprised by this?)
Best Comedic Performance Winner – Emma Stone for Easy A
Best Female Performance Winner – Kristen Stewart for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Really? Really??? There has to be a mistake)
Best Scared-As-s**t Performance Winner – Ellen Page for Inception
Best Line From A Movie Winner – “I want to get chocolate wasted!” from Alexys Nycole Sanchez in Grown Ups
MTV Generation Award Winner – Reese Witherspoon
Best Kiss Winner – Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Duh!

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards is in the books, or perhaps more accurately, on a wadded-up piece of paper towel on the bathroom floor. The two-hour litany of movie trailers, Teen Wolf ads, and glorious victories for members of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse fan club was short on genuine laughs and long on uncomfortable sex jokes and pitiful teleprompter reading. Let’s recount the telecast’s three best and three worst moments — the former being a much harder task than the latter — and review the list of winners.
Worst Moments

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards were filled with several shocking moments, and we got all them here on TooFab! Host Jason Sudeikis opened with a slew of Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes, most of which were too raunchy to be posted here, but one of them inferred that the entire balcony audience was fathered by the former governor. " Friends With Benefits " costars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake continued the PG-rated tone, grabbing each other's private parts while presenting the Best Male Performance award to Robert Pattinson. Check out all the photos below: " Harry Potter " baddie Tom Felton was named Best Villain, and joked he'll put his popcorn trophy in his bathroom. The Best Jaw Dropping Moment went to Justin Bieber , who surprised the audience by accepting his award on stage. The cast of " Transformers: Dark of the Moon " presented RPatz with his second award of the night for Best Fight Award for his...

Hollywood may have just found the ultimate killer mega-sequel on Sunday night (June 5) when "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" ran the table at the MTV Movie Awards, taking home five big ones, including Best Movie and Best Female and Male performance wins for stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Not too shabby for a bunch of undead vampires, buff werewolves and the lady who loves them.
In the process, the kids from rainy Forks, Washington, nearly blanked the also multiply-nominated cast of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1," surely giving someone in Hollywood a great idea to stage the ultimate fan-freakout-fantasy-world showdown once the two series wrap up.

You can't have a strong movie without a strong script (unless you're some weird kind of moviemaking magician that we've yet to come across), and thankfully, there were plenty of powerful scripts that made it to the big-screen this year—with plenty of dynamite dialogue to boot.

If this whole "Twilight" thing doesn't work out, Jackson Rathbone could have a great career translating movie dialogue into catchy little jingles for big awards shows.
What better way to introduce a new category at the MTV Movie Awards than with song? And who better to turn one of the categories into a hummable tune than the multitalented Rathbone?
When the 26-year-old actor isn't occupied with all the thrilling engagements and obligations involved with being part of the massive "Twilight" franchise, he can be found rocking with his band 100 Monkeys. The man widely known as Jasper Hale in "The Twilight Saga" is a multi-instrumentalist capable of shredding on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, mandolins, trumpets and harmonicas.

Do you think Robsten deserve to win for their lip-locks in ‘Eclipse’? Or will it be Kristen’s kiss with Taylor that takes the prize?
Our favorite awards show of the year is right around the corner — the MTV Movie Awards! Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are all up for their smooches in Eclipse, and we kind of hope Robsten win so they can kiss on stage! Last year, Rob and Kristen really had us thinking they were going to smooch when they won for their steamy kiss in New Moon, but as usual K-Stew got super shy and turned her head!
Kristen, Taylor and Rob will also be there to present a sneak peek of their highly anticipated Breaking Dawn wedding scene and we are totally psyched to see it!
Tune into MTV on June 5 where the magic is set to begin at 9pm Et!

If Robsten win, will they finally lock lips or fake us out again?
Our favorite awards show of the year is right around the corner — the MTV Movie Awards! Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are all up for their smooches in Eclipse, and we just hope Robsten wins so they can kiss on stage! Last year, Rob and Kristen really had us thinking they were going to lock lips when they won for their steamy kiss in New Moon, but as usual K-Stew got super shy and turned her head.
But do you think if K-Stew and Taylor win, she’ll might kiss him because they’re not dating and only best friends?
Then again, Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe might nab the award for their kiss in Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 1!
This year’s show will hosted by SNL funnyman Jason Sudeikis on June 5 in...

It's that time of year again, folks, where MTV announces its Movie Award nominations and we all tremble with fear at the prospect of the MTV demo controlling Social Security someday. No. It won't exist as it is currently formulated. When this generation takes over, only those with the most Twitter followers will receive checks. The rest of us will have to subsist on rations passed out by MySpace's Tom (bad 00's joke alert).
Below is the full list of nominations for this year's awards, but first, here's the select five most egregious demo-baiting nominations in this year's MTV Movie Awards:
5. Best Movie: The Twilight Saga
4. Best Kiss: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson -- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse;
Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner -- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
3. Best Comedic Performance: Ashton Kutcher, No Strings Attached
2. Best Male Performance: Zac Efron (Charlie St. Cloud)
