Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is now playing in theaters, which means key plot details have begun to find their way online.
In a new interview with THR, star Freya Allan (Mae) discusses the ending and how the original conclusion played out in far less subtle - and quite a bit darker - fashion.
Major spoilers follow.
During the climactic battle, Mae makes a fateful decision to blow open the floodgates and destroy the human tech the villainous Proximus was trying to get his hands on, killing hundreds of apes in the process.
“It’s not what she wants to do," Allan explains. "But it’s that, or Proximus has all these weapons and humanity is screwed. She’s gone through so much, she’s lost all the people she cares about, which was a large part of how I justified everything that she did,” Allan says. “So...

The Planet Of The Apes franchise has seen five feature films from the original movies, one from Tim Burton in 2001, a successful prequel series starring the amazing Andy Serkis, a live-action television series, an animated Saturday morning series, comic books, trading cards, action figures, you name it.
50 years ago in 1974 20th Century Fox came up with the clever idea to offer all five movies at once to select movie theaters, and program them together as a “Go Ape!” movie marathon.
Inventive marketing at the time, the films starred the incomparable Roddy McDowall, who played Cornelius and Caesar, in 4 out of the 5 movies. All the movies can now be found on streaming services.
In 2024, Pota fans were offered the chance to see the film on May 8th at the special Fan Event and “Go Ape” again!

In Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, director Wes Ball plans to breathe new life into the franchise with a story set several generations in the future following Caesar's reign. Apes are now the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows.
As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
Given Ball's expertise in the young adult realm with The Maze Runner movies and chatter about Kingdom shifting the spotlight to a younger cast of characters, some fans have expressed concerns about the classic sci-fi franchise becoming a franchise for teens. Then, there's also the fact it has to follow the previous trilogy (no easy feat).

As the creator and star of one of the most popular and widely quoted comedy sketch shows of all time, Keegan-Michael Key is a brilliant actor, writer, and producer known for his outlandish characters.
However, his comedic chops run the gamut as he has had numerous supporting roles in genres from family to raunchy. Beyond television, he has graced his fair share of movies, and his presence, no matter how brief, always stands out as the scene-stealer that he is.
Having been in the entertainment industry for almost twenty-five years, Key has amassed twenty-three award nominations, including three wins with a Peabody, an American Comedy Award, and an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

Cold feet usually come before the nuptials, but in Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 7, the groom is six feet under before the honeymoon phase has even started.
Kicking things off in "Something Blue" is the incomparable Keegan-Michael Key in the role of Ashton Hayes, father of the bride and wealthy financial advisor.
While the actor is known for his over-the-top characters, in this role, Key takes a more subdued approach in the form of an uptight uppity country club golfer.
Still, it can be said that his comedic charms are at the ready with the perfect delivery of lines.

Something borrowed and someone blue.
The campy, high-profile murders never get old on the somewhat new series Elsbeth.
Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 7 will be giving away a wedding where the groom's side may be short one pivotal attendee.
The spoilers for "Something Blue" look like there's much to look forward to with the guest appearance of Keegan-Michael Key playing financial advisor Ashton Hayes.
So far, what we know for sure is that there is a planned wedding, a dead groom and that Hayes is definitely the killer.
As the series is past the halfway point, the well-known faces guest starring in each episode are now firmly solidified as the episodic killers, especially since It would certainly be a waste for the showwriters to deviate from the formula now.
However, since Key's character can clearly be seen dumping the victim's body, it's all but assured that things will stick to the usual script.

Elsbeth’s season 1 run is far from being over with the final episode set to be released on May 25, but a brand new clip gives a major hint at some exciting guest appearances in the upcoming episodes.
A police procedural comedy drama, Elsbeth follows an eccentric attorney whose shrewd observations come in handy when she needs to deal with New York’s criminal world — and it looks like she will get some help from Hollywood’s famous comedians.
The one-minute-long brand new trailer opens with the scene where Elsbeth introduces herself to a couple with the woman describing Elsbeth as “that odd woman that works with the police'', also calling her funny.
The main character then proceeds to interact with Keegan-Michael Key explaining to him that she used to be a lawyer back in the day, but then found her vocation in solving murder cases — both characters later appear to...

Long live the new queen! Season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race reached its dramatic conclusion on Friday, culminating with a lip sync smackdown for the crown.
This time around, it really was any queen’s game. A recent TVLine poll was split almost completely evenly between the final trio — Nymphia Wind, Plane Jane and Sapphira Cristál — with Sapphira edging out her tied competitors by only a single percent. Even the queens’ track records are remarkably similar; Plane and Sapphira each have four wins under their belts, while Nymphia has three.

As Alex Horne tells it, Taskmaster was born out of professional jealousy. In 2009, he became a parent and so broke with almost a decade of tradition by not taking a show to the Edinburgh Fringe. That same year, his friend and former flatmate Tim Key won the festival’s top comedy award, for which Horne had been nominated in 2003.
At home and envious, Horne sent out emails inviting 20 comedians – including Key – to take part in a new competition in which he would set them a different task each month for a year. The results would be shared in a live performance at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe called The Taskmaster.
The result was organised chaos. An overdraft of comedians (a Fringe-specific collective noun) plus a pianist joined Horne on stage to reveal the results, set tie-break tasks, and eventually crown a winner.

Focus Features has acquired worldwide rights to Carey Mulligan comedy “The Ballad of Wallis Island,” Variety can confirm exclusively.
They will release the film in the U.S. while Universal Pictures International is handling global distribution.
The film, which was previously titled “One For The Money,” is directed by James Griffiths (“Cuban Fury”) and produced by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow productions (“Philomena”).
The screenplay was written by Tom Basden (“After Life”) and Tim Key (“Great Expectations”), who also star in the film alongside Sian Clifford (“Fleabag”) and Akemnji Ndifornyen (“Famalam”).
“The Ballad of Wallis Island” tells the story of Charles (played by Key), an eccentric lottery winner who tries to reunite his favorite musical duo Mortimer-McGwyer (Mulligan and Basden) despite the fact they split up many years ago. Making things even more awkward, the musicians – Nell Mortimer and Herb McGwyer — were also once romantically involved with each other a la Sonny and Cher.

This article contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
Episode 3 of Masters of the Universe: Revolution features former Man-At-Arms Duncan (Liam Cunningham) and wizard Orko (Griffin Newman) achieving an important goal, enhancing He-Man’s Sword of Power. To do this, Duncan goes to the one person he believes can do it, a locksmith who is, “small in stature and tall on talent.”
That locksmith is a short creature named Gwildor (Ted Biaselli.)
For those not well-versed in their Masters of the Universe franchise lore, Gwildor doesn’t come from the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Filmation cartoon. He actually debuted in the 1987 live-action movie, Masters of the Universe, played by Billy Barty. In that film he was also a locksmith whose main purpose in the plot was as the creator of the Cosmic Key, the object used to transport He-Man and company to Earth in that film.

In the wake of Rupert Wyatt and Matt Reeves’ trilogy that began with Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011 and came to end with 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes from 20th Century Studios takes place “many years after” War.
Owen Teague (“It”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”) star in the new movie.
“Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic, franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans...

According to Deadline, DC Studios are preparing to begin the testing process for the role of Supergirl in the DC Universe. In the mix are Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon), Emilia Jones (Locke & Key), and Meg Donnelly (The Winchesters).
Deadline’s report states that the Supergirl testing will take place sometime in the next month, with James Gunn definitely playing a part in the process. The character is set to take the lead of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but there’s the chance she could make an appearance in another DC project, which is why the studio wants to sign an actress sooner rather than later. We all know how this process goes, so take this all with a grain of salt; while these actresses could wind up testing for the role, it could easily land in someone else’s lap.

It was 10 years ago that Keegan-Michael Key got his first voice casting in an animated film, The Lego Movie. It was the start of a big new career for him — since then, he’s made 13 more, including the new film Migration. Key told us that, as he’s gotten more experience working as an animated voiceover artist, he’s learned more and more about how to bring characters to life, which usually has him getting pretty animated himself. Key said he had a lot of fun trying an accent he’d never used before in his voiceover work. Keanu Reeves may have inspired the name of Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key’s hit comedy feature Keanu. But at first, it didn’t seem like Reeves wanted anything to do with the picture until an unexpected phone call.
Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key weren’t sure about a Keanu Reeves cameo Keanu Reeves | Vera Anderson/WireImage
Peele and Key already managed to take over the world of comedy with their hit show Key & Peele. But they eventually decided to try to duplicate their small-screen success on the big screen with Keanu.
Their debut comedy was simply about two average suburbanites who get entangled into a world of crime after their cat is stolen. The film features several guest appearances from celebrities like Tiffany Haddish and Method Man. And since the name of the film is titled Keanu, it seemed only fitting for the actual Keanu Reeves...

Jordan Peele wasn't always one of the greatest horror filmmakers in the world. First he was a prolific comedian, starring in five seasons of the late-night sketch comedy series "Mad TV," impersonating celebrities left and right. Then he created his own show with his fellow "Mad TV" alumni Keegan-Michael Key, appropriately titled "Key & Peele," and that show was a major comedy hit that's still actively memed to this day.
It made sense that, when Jordan Peele moved into the realm of movies, his first project was the phenomenally funny buddy comedy "Keanu." Peele co-wrote the screenplay and starred opposite Key as mild-mannered friends who have to step outside their comfort zone and into the world of violent crime in order to rescue their kidnapped, adorable kitten. Peele may not have directed it, but it's a delight, and established Peele as a force to be reckoned with in motion picture comedies as well as TV.

Yellowcard’s career trajectory has been anything but ordinary. The Florida-bred, violin-assisted foursome’s signature hit, the nostalgic title track of their 2003 major-label debut Ocean Avenue, is now a beloved pop-punk classic. But years went by without another smash, and by 2017, with their career seemingly stalled out for good, they broke up. Last year, they came together for what was supposed to be a single performance at Chicago’s Riot Fest, only to realize they were on the brink of something big.

Skinny Puppy founder cEvin Key — aka Kevin Compton — has announced a new album of previously unreleased archival material, bRap and fOrth, vol. 9, and shared the song “House Tried to Kill Me.”
bRap and fOrth, vol. 9 continues Key’s ongoing “Back and Forth” series, which culls demos and recordings from the industrial pioneer’s vast archive of unreleased material. For the ninth iteration, he exhumed old four-track tapes hailing from Skinny Puppy’s Bites era — some of his earliest work.
A dance-y four-minute instrumental, “House Tried to Kill Me” is certainly reminiscent of the sound on Bites — old-school drum machines, ’80s sound effects, and homespun production abound — making it required listening for hardcore Skinny Puppy fans.
“‘bRap And fOrth 9’ is a collection of some of my earliest recordings recently discovered on four-track tapes,” Key remarked via Bandcamp. “Most are from 1985 from the infamous ‘Bites’ apartment, a couple more from later but still made on a four-track.

Take a look, and you’ll see … the whimsical Wonka trailer.

The Wonka trailer debuted at CinemaCon in April, following the film’s first appearance at the Las Vegas convention in 2022, where it was revealed that Chalamet has seven “sincere” and “joyous” musical numbers.
The Oscar nominee stars alongside Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Calah Lane, Colin O’Brien, Matt Lucas, Simon Farnaby, Natasha Rothwell, Rufus Jones and more. “I’m quite a light and silly person in my real life, so this is much more the way that I am in friends,” reveals Aaron Tveit of his character in “Schmigadoon!” He portrays Topher in Season 2 of the Apple TV+ series, the leader of a hippie tribe with a penchant for parables. The role is a welcome departure from the emotionally wrought figures that Tveit is accustomed to playing. Instead, the musical world of Season 2’s Schmicago allowed the actor to be “as ridiculous as possible.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Tveit describes the sophomore season of the comedy series as “much bigger” than the first outing. This season pays homage to musicals of the 1960s and 70s, which covers a wide range of tones and styles. Plenty of time is spent in a dark, brooding atmosphere inspired by the likes of “Cabaret,” “Chicago,” and “Sweeney Todd.” But...

New Delhi, May 5 (Ians) England men’s cricket managing director Rob Key has predicted that fast bowler Jofra Archer will have a “massive impact” in the upcoming Ashes, set to begin from June 16 at Edgbaston.
Archer has picked 42 wickets in 13 matches since his debut in 2019 and has not played Test cricket for England since February 2021, owing to undergoing multiple operations for back and elbow injuries in the last two years.
