The Evil Dead franchise is a horror classic that has stood the test of time. From the early days of Sam Raimi’s low-budget gore-fest to the more recent adaptations, the franchise has maintained a level of quality and consistency that is rarely found in the horror genre. With all the films in the franchise being something special in their own right, it’s time to rank them in order of greatness. So grab your boomstick and chainsaw, and let’s take a look at every film in the Evil Dead franchise and see which one reigns supreme.
1. Evil Dead 2 (1987)
What can be said about Evil Dead 2 that hasn’t already been said? This film is a masterpiece of horror-comedy, and it’s still just as effective today as it was when it first came out in 1987. Sam Raimi and team were firing on all cylinders here; they...

To credit Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead as the motivating force behind “Revenge of the Remakes” wouldn’t be an audacious claim. By golden template standards for reanimating beloved horror franchises, it remains a remarkable exemplification alongside titans like Maniac or The Blob. As an underworldly standalone feature, it’s one of the fiercest, scare-you-senseless releases since its April 2013 premiere. I still remember every howl, sunken gasp, and pure release of elation during my midnight showtime—”That’S How You Execute A Remake,” dominating lobby chatter and ride home discussions. From there, reactionary adventures into do-over culture solidified as the investigative analysis you’ve been reading on Bloody Disgusting month after month.
Were your feathers rustled after I dared suggest 2009’s Friday the 13th understands Jason Voorhees’ mythos and fanbase better than its initial trilogy? Strap in deadheads, because this is the one where I hail 2013’s Evil Dead as King.

A few days ago, we learned that the Mia Allen character from Evil Dead 2013 is going to be added to Evil Dead: The Game as a playable character in September. Now the game’s developers have revealed that’s not the only update coming to the game next month. They’re also adding in a new demon class – a class called the Plaguebringers, which are the Deadites seen in the Evil Dead sequel Army of Darkness! Castle Kandar, the primary setting of Army of Darkness, was just added to the game as a playable map last month.

In addition to the remake’s Mia Allen, more new content is coming to Evil Dead: The Game in September, with Saber Interactive revealing an upcoming Demon Class this afternoon.
Titled “Plaguebringer,” the Free Demon Class will be added into the game next month, and it’s based on Sam Raimi’s Army of Darkness. The 1992 sequel had recently made its way into the game with the first Dlc Update, which featured a brand new Castle Kandar map.
It looks like the “Plaguebringer” class is led by the Possessed Witch from Army of Darkness, flanked by a Skeleton Deadite and the Pit Witch that Ash memorably tangled with.
“Plaguebringer” will be the fourth Demon Class in Evil Dead: The Game, with other playable villains from the franchise including Henrietta, Evil Ash, and Eligos from “Ash vs. Evil Dead.”

Stars: Rachael Perrell Fosket, Patrick D. Green, David Withers, Jason Reynolds, Robert Blanche, Mia Allen, Julia Bray, Gaelle Lola Beauvais, Alex Tiefenthaler | Written by Hank Huffman | Directed by Derek Carl
Remember back in 1998 when everyone threw their arms in the arms and complained incessantly about Gus Van Sant’s shot-for-shot remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho? Well if Gus van Sant had followed the formula of Derek Carl and Hank Huffman’s remake of The Brain That Wouldn’t Die then maybe there wouldn’t have been that many complaints!
If you haven’t seen the original, this version of The Brain That Wouldn’t Die tells the story of a mad scientist Dr. Bill Courtner (Patrick D. Green) who develops a means to keep human body parts alive. After a car accident he keeps his fiancée Jan Compton’s (Rachael Perrell Fosket) severed head alive for days in his laboratory.

"It's a film that's bound to make your inner child smile." Perhaps? Indican Pictures has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled Zilla and Zoe, which originally premiered at the Portland Film Festival in 2017. This amusing, heartfelt, fun comedy set in Portland is about a young 10-year-old girl named Zoe who is obsessed with gore and horror. To win the contest of her dreams and pursue a career in filmmaking, she will have to turn her sister's wedding into a horror film. Of course, it doesn't exactly go as planned. Or maybe it does? Aida Valentine stars as Zoe, with a cast including Sam Kamerman, Greg James, Kurt Conroyd, Mia Allen, Julie Elizabeth Knell, and Holden Goyette. It looks funny and endearing, and also very self-referential about a young filmmaker making a masterpiece film any way she can. Check it out. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jessica Scalise's Zilla and Zoe,...
