Megan Phelps-Roper has said her forthcoming podcast with Jk Rowling was “never intended to vindicate” the author.
The Witch Trials of Jk Rowling is a seven-part podcast, which will be released on Tuesday (21 February).
According to its blurb, the episodes will “examine some of the most contentious conflicts of our time through the life and career of the world’s most successful author”.
The blurb also states that it will include interviews “with Rowling’s supporters and critics”, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.
The author has faced accusations of transphobia in recent years over statements she has made about transgender people and gender. A number of the Harry Potter cast have distanced themselves from the author.
Rowling has rejected the idea that she is transphobic and has said previously that she “knows and loves” trans people.

A formal complaint has been made about the author, actor and comedian Stephen Fry over jokes he allegedly told at a cricketing dinner at Lord’s in London.
Marylebone Cricket Club’s president said that the complaint is “incorrect” and some attendees have claimed that Fry was misheard.
Fry, who is president of Marylebone Cricket Club, allegedly cracked a joke about women “shagging” and another that linked Muslims to terrorism.
According to The Times, McC member Chris Waterman urged the club to take disciplinary action against Fry, calling his jokes “egregious”.
Waterman claims that Fry welcomed members by saying: “I had intended to say ‘Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,’ but there are no lady members present. I suppose they are off shagging.”
He also alleged that Fry – referring to the Allahakbarries, an amateur cricket team founded by Peter Pan author Jm Barrie – joked that when used today, the phrase “Allahu...

Don Lemon will miss Monday’s episode of CNN’s This Morning amid controversy surrounding comments he made about Nikki Haley’s age.
Last week, during one of the network’s morning shows, the anchor criticised Haley, who had just announced her presidential campaign, over her suggestion that politicians over 75 should have to undergo “mandatory mental competency tests”.
“This whole talk about age makes me uncomfortable. I think it’s the wrong road to go down. She says people, you know, politicians or something are not in their prime,” Lemon said. “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry. A woman is considered to be in their prime in their twenties and thirties and maybe forties.”
The comments prompted pushback from Lemon’s co-host Poppy Harlow, who asked: “What are you talking about… wait, prime for what?”
Harlow then suggested that her co-anchor needed to clarify his meaning, asking: “Are...

Dancing on Ice star Christopher Dean has broken his finger just days before the new series begins.
Dean, who stars alongside long-term skating partner Jayne Torvill on the popular ITV reality series, shared the news with fans on social media.
The former professional skater posted a picture of his finger in a bandage, alongside the caption: “Yes broken.”
“We were trying the Iron Lotus, but ended up doing a Half Nelson,” he wrote, in a follow-up tweet. “Or did I just fall over a suitcase in the middle of the night.”
The “Iron Lotus” refers to a fictional figure skating move from the 2007 Will Ferrell comedy Blades of Glory.
Torvill and Dean rose to prominence during the 1984 Winter Olympics, when their figure skating routine set to Maurice Ravel's “Boléro” was awarded a gold medal.
The celebrity contestants for the new series of Dancing on Ice were announced back in October last year.

When satirical drama The White Lotus first aired in 2021, it was something of a sleeper hit. The cast was an unassuming mix of actors who were big in the Nineties and B-movie pin-ups, and the show’s creator, Mike White, was best known as the real Ned Schneebly from School of Rock. But after two years of pandemic-induced travel restrictions, the infusion of luxury resort life into the television schedule was an unqualified hit. And so, naturally, the show had to return for a second outing.

For the first time, stars of multiple reality shows on numerous networks are coming together for a new competition series. “All Star Shore,” produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, is set to premiere on Paramount+ on June 29.
The show includes cast members from ABC’s Bachelor Nation, Netflix’s “Love Is Blind,” MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” “Geordie Shore,” “Acapulco Shore” and “Rio Shore;” VH1’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and CBS-turned-Peacock’s “Love Island.”
The cast will live “at the ultimate shore hose” in the Canary Islands and compete in party-style challenges, including “Party Pong” and “Shots and Found,” battling for a cash prize.

Now, the BBC is going to fully embrace the chemistry-creating element of its famous dance show in a new BBC Three format, working titled Dance Crush.
BBC Studios will make the show, which will pair up professional dancers with novices to see if the connection they form on the dance floor translates into chemistry off the dance floor in a bid to score a hot date and avoid elimination from the show. The BBC said there will be a series of weekly challenges, stunning routines, and dramatic eliminations.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday, BBC Three controller Fiona Campbell said a pilot has been filmed overseas and the format “tested really positively” with viewers. Dance Crush will be executive produced for BBC Studios by Kelly Lynn,...

The revived Crystal Maze is a winner, as its second Stand Up To Cancer celebrity special proves…
“I love The Crystal Maze!” said Joey Essex, once he’d worked out what one was and that he was in it. “Haven’t we revitalised the format?!” agreed Richard Ayoade enthusiastically, sadly putting Joey right back in the lap of confusion.

Ayoade and Essex, two very different kinds of men. Watching them try to converse can’t be unlike watching an owl try to mate with a suitcase. Having seen it now though, I just want more. Quick, someone commission a show in which the pair of them team up to fight crime or catch cowboy roofers or conduct a public vote for the nation’s best Center Parcs. Whatever it is, I know I wouldn’t be able to look away.

It's the clash of the titans in Digital Spy's exclusive clip from Celebrity Benchmark, as Jimmy Carr takes on Joey Essex.
Paddy McGuinness hosts the celebrity edition of the Channel 4 game show, which launches a five-part series tomorrow night (September 26) at 7pm.
Jimmy and Joey appear to be very competitive in the game, which could see one celebrity winning up to £50,000 for charity with the help of ten famous 'benchmarkers'.
Joey does have a point though - the question in the video above isn't totally clear and we call shenanigans.
Vic Reeves, John Thomson, Lesley Joseph and Edwina Currie are among the other celebs taking part in the series, which follows its civilian daytime edition earlier this year.

The X Factor's Simon Cowell has admitted that he wasn't sure whether Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw were the right choices for the judging panel at first.
Speaking to The Sun, Cowell explained that before filming began he had been thinking about the possibility of hiring Louis Walsh again.
"I wasn't sure," he said. "Normally whenever we have anyone new in I'm on the phone to Louis within three hours to replace them. I'm sure he had his bags packed at the front door."
But Cowell explained that he was pleased with the new judges when filming kicked off, although he admitted Ora is a "bit of a ditz".
"But it's part of her personality," he said. "What I like about her is that she's not afraid to admit that. She doesn't say something and then scream at the producers to edit it out. She can poke fun at herself.

We're not sure who's going to be more insulted, but Nick Grimshaw has likened fellow X Factor judge Rita Ora to Joey Essex.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ revealed he hadn't realised how "clueless" Ora was until they joined up on the panel of the ITV talent show last month.
Speaking to The Sun, the 30-year-old compared the 'Poison' singer to the ex-towie star, joking: "She is like Joey with a good weave."
Grimshaw also recalled how Ora had asked him where Tenerife was when an X Factor hopeful from the Canary Islands began singing in Spanish during their audition.
"I told her it was in the Caribbean and he's singing in French," he explained.
"When he ended, she was really serious and was like, 'You gave a good performance. When you started singing in French it became better.' Everyone in the arena lost it."

Joey Essex and Jimmy Carr will take part in celebrity specials of Channel 4's Benchmark.
Other stars include Amanda Byram, Vic Reeves, Lesley Joseph, John Thomson and Mark Watson.
James Haskell, Edwina Currie and Jason Byrne will also feature.
Each of the five specials, airing on primetime, sees one celebrity hoping to win up to £50,000 for their chosen charity, with help from the ten 'Benchmarkers'.
The Benchmarkers must answer tricky numerical general knowledge questions, with their answers setting the benchmark. The main contestant then has to decide whether the correct answer is higher or lower.
Host Paddy McGuinness said: "You've got the genius of the show itself, combined with the mayhem involved when you throw a bunch of celebrities into the mix. It's going to be brilliant.
"The only thing I'm worried about is how long the recordings are going to take. That, and getting a word in edgeways.

He said: ''I have watched 'The Only Way Is Essex'. Of course, I know who Joey Essex is. ''I didn't like it as much as I like 'Take Me Out', which I think is a fantastic show.'' However, the 64-year-old broadcaster confessed he's not too keen on E4's 'Made In Chelsea' because he doesn't like the show's stars, who include Spencer Matthews, Jamie Laing and Lucy Watson. It must be quite the Countdown conundrum when you realise you've got a high-scoring word, but it's one that's going to make Nick Hewer blush.
Myleene Klass wasn't fazed, though. The radio presenter would have won eight points for her glorious "gobshite".
The former Hear'Say star giggled as she told host Hewer: "I got a rude one. It's an eight... gobshite."
While Rachel Riley sheepishly put the letters in place, Dictionary Corner expert Susie Dent confirmed that it was allowed.
Dent told viewers that "gobshite" was "chiefly Irish" and "vulgar slang". So, there you go.
Myleene's crass word came just a week after Riley had to spell out the word "erection", which also won eight points, on the Countdown board.
Meanwhile, Channel 4 has announced that 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown will return for a new series in May, including special guest Joey Essex.

The Jump has reportedly been renewed for a third series by Channel 4.
The dangerous winter sports show will be back next year to test another batch of brave celebrities after the last run averaged 2.3m viewers.
The last series of the show, which is hosted by Davina McCall, saw Joey Essex ski to triumph in a surprise victory over Mike Tindall and Louise Hazel.
But the show has also become notorious for injuries thanks to the dangerous sports involved, with Ola Jordan and Sally Bercow both pulling out of the competition last year before it had even started.
Still, it wasn't all bad news, as unlikely couple Steve-o and Stacey Solomon met on the slopes of Austria during filming for the show.
"With The Jump we've created a show that is a unique blend of daring live action, genuine sporting skill and some raucous après ski – it's the most frightening show on TV,...
