Will we need TV channels in ten years time? Even though I watch most of my TV in advance of the schedules and use plenty of catch-up services, I find the idea of TV becoming one giant splodge in the internet-sphere slightly unnerving.
But I'm still recovering from the news that I probably won't be able to buy CDs at HMV in the near future, so maybe I need to get 'down with the kids' and 'move with the times, granddad'.
If Netflix has anything to do with it, the way we watch TV will change. We may have grown up in an age when TV shows are drip-fed to us week-by-week, teasing us with morsels and hooking us in, but in the shiny new Netflix world you can have the whole damn cake in one sitting if you like.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney has taken on corruption and torture in his documentaries "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" and "Taxi to the Dark Side", never holding his tongue when it comes to discussing controversial topics. Gibney spoke to HuffPost Live host Josh Zepps about how torture in "Zero Dark Thirty" is represented, and criticized the film's suggestion that torture lead to the capture of Osama Bin Laden.
"In the film, what's missing is the context of how damaging torture was not only to the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, how much it threw us off the trail because of false information obtained," said Gibney, "but how disastrous it was in all sorts of circumstances." Gibney referenced how false information obtained under torture contributed to the decision to invade Iraq, and returned to "Zero Dark Thirty," saying "there's no counter narrative in the film, no sense of the disastrous...

Charlie Sheen stopped by "The Tonight Show" this week. Host Jay Leno brought up baseball, because Sheen has a little experience playing from the "Major League" movies, and they talked about steroids and how no one got into the Hall of Fame this year from a group that included a lot of known or suspected steroid users.
This led into a discussion about Lance Armstrong and Sheen pulled no punches in saying what he thinks about Lance.
"Kind of a d*****. Wow, I didn't just say that, did I? That's based on meeting him," says Sheen. "I walked up, I said, 'Hi, I'm Charlie Sheen' and he goes, 'That's nice.' Oh, sorry to bother you, Captain B****in'. Go get a paper route, dude."
"If he was a better guy, I think, in his life, he'd be forgiven a lot faster. Kind of like me," Sheen adds.

Previously on Chicago Fire, Severide decided to move the Madrid because his neck is broken and the sweetest way to die would be in the arms of Carmen. Dawson gave Mills the food and wine she prepared for Shay’s big U-Haul party. I know there was something else. Oh right, she also gave him Shay’s ticket to her vagina. Shay came back to work and also wore a football helmet which made some of us swoon.
This week’s episode opens with Severide making good use of his inability to work to do all that touristy stuff you never do in your own city. He takes Renee to Skydeck and charges out into the tiny plastic box on the 103rd floor. The floor is transparent and you can see right down to the ground. Or at least I think you can because I couldn’t bear to look.

Charlie Sheen dropped by "The Tonight Show" where he chimed in on the Lance Armstrong controversy. He talked about meeting Armstrong once before, and that the cyclist didn't impress him all that much. Sheen said he was "kind of a douche."
According to Sheen, when he walked up and introduced himself to Armstrong, the terse reply he got was, "That's nice." "Sorry to bother ya, Captain Bitchin’," Sheen said about the incident. "Whatever."
He later talked about his upcoming cameo in "Scary Movie 5," and how he helped pay Lindsay Lohan for her part as well. He explained that the producers offered him a set figure to appear in the film. But when they decided to also add Lohan, they said they'd give half of what they were offering him to her. He was fine with it, but then found out Lohan didn't get as much as they'd indicated she would.

According to Variety, The Weinstein Company is making some moves on their film Chef, a sex comedy written by Steven Knight. The project, which is being produced by Im Global, is now setup at TWC and apparently, Derek Cianfrance is on board to direct with Bradley Cooper set to star. Their report also mentions that actor Omar Sy will co-star in the film, making his English language debut after starring in the highly acclaimed film The Intouchables.
Chef will follow “a disgraced chef who, after losing his Michelin-rated restaurant in Paris, decides to bring his crew back together in an attempt to create the best restaurant ever in London.” The project has been in development for a while now, with David Fincher involved at one point. Back when he was on board, the director described it as “ a celibate sex comedy if that means anything. It’s really about the creative process.

As we learned from the whole Lance Armstrong/J.J. Abrams/Bradley Cooper affair, even direct quotes can be dodgy these days, but this one comes from Cooper himself -- spoken in French no less while doing promo in France -- so we presume no wires have been crossed. And it looks like the actor's teaming up with Derek Cianfrance could get some international flavor. Last fall it was announced that Cooper and Cianfrance were going to tackle the long developing "Chef," a project David Fincher once had his eye on. Penned by "Eastern Promises" writer Steven Knight, the story follows a disgraced chef who, thanks to booze and drugs, loses his Michelin two star rated restaurant in Paris, but brings the gang back together, so to speak, in London to chase an elusive three star rating. So it's like a food driven "Silver Linings Playbook" meets "Ratatouille" and "The Hangover"? Perhaps,...

What is it with Bradley Cooper and stupid rumors this week?
First, he's starring in a Lance Armstrong movie. (No, he's not.) Then, he's "dating" Taylor Swift. (Not true either.) Now, apparently, he's been dumped by a model who couldn't handle his foot fetish.
That's according to an exclusive (how exciting!) report from In Touch that claims Cooper's "Silver Linings Playbook" co-star (and fellow Oscar nominee) Jennifer Lawrence set him up with a model pal, Laura Simpson.
Cooper and Simpson went on a few dates before, in the words of In Touch's anonymous source, "things got very awkward."
"He was always touching her feet," the source claims, adding Cooper would ask Simpson to text him pictures of her feet. "It was weird, so she broke it off."
Ok then.
If that's the kind of weirdness it takes for an actor to deliver a performance like Cooper's in "Silver Linings," then we're fine with it.

There’s a lot of buzz right now around Bradley Cooper: the actor earned an Oscar nomination for his work in David O. Los Angeles, Jan 30: Actor Bradley Cooper has reportedly denied rumours that he is playing the role of Lance Armstrong on the big screen.
It was reported that director J.J. Abrams formally approached the 38-year-old to star in a biopic on cyclist Armstrong's rise and fall from grace.
However, Cooper strongly refuted the claims Sunday night during Screen Actors Guild Awards, reports contactmusic.com.

Well, this is embarrassing. No, we’re not referring to our scrapbook of wedding plans for our fantasy Bradley Cooper wedding. You know we spent a lot of time and effort on that. We’re referring to producer/director J.J. Abram‘s awkward casting rumor gaffe. It all began when the Star Trek director claimed Bradley Cooper was psyched to potentially play Lance Armstrong in the film based on the upcoming book Cycle of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong. “[Cooper] sent me an email and we’ve been talking,” Abrams told Entertainment Tonight. Seemed reasonable enough (both Lance and Bradley have a similar intensity and devastating cheekbones), until we found out that J.J. hadn’t…actually…mentioned to Bradley that he was supposed to be interested. Man, this is just like when we sent out the invites to our wedding to Bradley Cooper with out technically meeting him first.

There’s been plenty of speculation that he’ll play Lance Armstrong in an upcoming biopic, but in reality Bradley Cooper hasn’t received an offer.
The “Limitless” hunk seemed surprised when he was asked about the forthcoming film- “Oh my God, that’s so nuts!”
Cooper continued, “I didn’t even know that J.J. Abrams has the rights. I had no idea,” quashing notion that he’ll be researching performance-enhancing drugs and parading around in cycling shorts.
Previously, Bradley did in fact make a statement that he “would be interested” in considering the gig.

Perhaps it's fitting that a movie centering on a man who conned an entire sport and legion of fans and followers, would be this convoluted even before a script was written. But to recap, in brief: Bradley Cooper told the BBC he'd be interested in making a movie about Lance Armstrong. J.J. Abrams says he's already been emailing Cooper about a project that he's developing about the cyclist. And now? 1.) This first story still has a little explaining to do, but it all began when Entertainment Tonight caught up with J.J. Abrams who is producing a feature film on cyclist Lance Armstrong based on Juliet Macur's forthcoming book "Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong". Abrams led Et to believe Bradley Cooper may be up for the role saying, "Cooper sent me an email and we've been talking." Upon having the news read back to him, however, Cooper seemed dismayed telling Access Hollywood, "Oh my god, that's so nuts! I didnt even know that J.J. has the rights, I had no idea." Cooper's comment is hardly a denial, and a deal probably isn't in place and they are unlikely to comment officially until one is. Beyond that, Cooper may be just embracing Abrams' love of secrecy. Either way, the project is on the table and Cooper may star with Abrams producing.

The Silver Linings Playbook star Bradley Cooper is in talks to play Lance Armstrong in the J.J. Abrams produced film project based on the disgraced cyclist. After the movie was announced last week, Cooper expressed some interest in playing the cyclist. He ended up sending Abrams an e-mail, and Abrams confirmed to Et this last weekend that they've been talking.
The movie will be based on the proposed book by Juliet Macur, to be called Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong. The film will tell the story of the cyclist's inspiring rise and epically disgraceful fall.
When I first saw the news that they would be making this film, I immediately thought Cooper would be best actor to take it on. Now it looks like we might get to see him do it. What do you think about Copper possibly playing Armstrong?...

One of the many, many projects suddenly piling up on J.J. Abrams. plate is a planned Armstrong movie documenting his cheating scandal as a rider on the Tour de France. Abrams will produce the film, but obviously is far too busy to ever consider directing. News broke, however, that Silver Linings Playbook star and current Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper was interested in climbing on the bike for that role because, like most of us, he found Lance to be a fascinating character. No doubt it will be a meaty role for whomever decides to play Armstrong on screen. And Abrams, speaking to press on Saturday night at the Producers Guild Awards, mentioned to E! that Cooper "sent me an email and ...

Bradley Cooper has appeared to deny that he is in the running to play Lance Armstrong in producer Jj Abrams's upcoming biopic of the cyclist. Abrams suggested over the weekend that he'd spoken with the Hangover 3 actor about the project following Cooper recently calling Armstrong a "fascinating character".

Rumors come in two forms: true and false. Situation along Bradley Cooper’s role in the new Lance Armstrong biopic seems ‘negative,’ but only time will tell.
Chatting to the BBC last week, Cooper said that he would ‘love’ to star as the disgraced cyclist.
The Oscar-nominated thesp added:
I would be interested in that. I think he’s fascinating. What a fascinating character.
However, the Silver Linings Playbook lead actor has made it clear, while on the red carpet of the SAG Awards on Sunday, January 27th, that he would not star in a Lance Armstrong biopic to be produced by J.J. Abrams.
When asked by Access Hollywood to comment on the rumor, Cooper said with a laugh:

Over the weekend came word that Bradley Cooper was in talks with J.J. Abrams to star in the Lance Armstrong-themed "Cycle of Lies" which Paramount Pictures and Abrams' Bad Robot will produce.
Cooper discussed the idea of playing Armstrong last week. He told The BBC: "I remember Matt Damon was going to do his autobiography at one point years ago. I remember thinking, that would be a great character, I'd love to play that character. I would love to do something, I think he's pretty fascinating."
Abrams confirmed over the weekend in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he has talked about the idea with Cooper. Cooper's acting career was launched after Abrams cast him as a regular on the spy thriller series "Alias".
Then on Sunday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Cooper was asked by Access Hollywood about the Armstrong casting rumors. "No ... Oh my god, that's so nuts.

Just days after Lance Armstrong confessed that he used drugs to dominate the cycling world, Paramount Pictures and Jj Abrams teamed up to bring Armstrong's story to the big screen. Over the weekend, Abrams confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that he'll be directing "Star Wars: Episode VII." In the same interview, he mentioned that there are discussions with Bradley Cooper to play Armstrong. "[Cooper] sent me an email and we've been talking," he explained. Meanwhile, the actor told BBC News that he "would be interested in [playing Armstrong]. I think he's fascinating. What a fascinating character." The new film will be based on "Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong," which follows Armstrong for over a decade as a cyclist recovering from deadly cancer who went on to win seven Tour de France titles.

Pouring water over its head and puffing out its cheeks, Jj Abrams' Lance Armstrong movie is in hot pursuit of a certain other project the filmmaker has heading to the screen. Talking to Et, Abrams let slip that his Bad Robot studio is now in informal talks with Bradley Cooper about playing the lie-peddling peddler.“[Cooper] sent me an email and we've been talking,” Abrams told Et. This won’t come as a big surprise to anyone who heard Cooper express his interest in the role earlier this month. “I think he's fascinating,” the actor told BBC News. “What a fascinating character.”The film will be based on Cycle of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong, a book proposal by New York Times sportswriter Juliet Macur, who has followed the cyclist for ten murky years of triumph and transfusions. The story, which, as the title implies, is set firmly at...

Jj Abrams' Bad Robot company continues to develop a Lance Armstrong film, which has attracted the interest of Bradley Cooper...
A film on Jj Abrams' production slate that doesn't involve the worlds of Star Trek and Star Wars is the planned biopic of shamed cyclist Lance Armstrong. It's a project that Abrams is unlikely to direct, but looks like he might produce. And it looks like it's a project that's caught the eye of one Bradley Cooper.
Chatting to the BBC last week (yep, we're a little bit late with this one), the Oscar-nominated actor, when asked about appearing in a film about Armstrong's life, said that "I would be interested in that. I think he's fascinating. What a fascinating character".
Fascinating is certainly one word to describe Lance Armstrong, but we figure you don't come to this site to hear us ranting about figures such as him.

Los Angeles, Jan 28: Actor Bradley Cooper has formally been approached by director J.J. Abrams to star in a biopic on cyclist Lance Armstrong's rise and fall from grace.
Cooper previously expressed his desire to portray the disgraced cyclist after he was stripped of his titles between 1999 and 2005 when it was revealed that he had taken performance-enhancing drugs.
Abrams confirmed that he is considering Cooper for the role after the latter reached out to him via e-mail.
"Cooper sent me an e-mail and we have been talking," contactmusic.com quoted Abrams as saying.
Some time back Cooper had expressed his keeness.

Despite rumors that Bradley Cooper would take on the role of Lance Armstrong in an upcoming biopic, the actor himself has said that it will not happen. At this point, anyway, Cooper really isn't making any cycling plans.
The rumors began with Cooper gave an interview on the BBC. When asked how he felt about someday playing the disgraced athlete, Cooper replied, "I would be interested in that. I think he's fascinating. What a fascinating character."
That was enough to get the rumor mills going, especially since -- unbeknownst to Cooper -- J.J. Abrams actually holds the rights to a possible Armstrong-based film. Since Cooper and Abrams have a history together (from "Alias"), many made the connection.
Bradley Cooper did not. "I had no idea what [the interviewer] was talking about," the actor told Access Hollywood from the Screen Actors Guild Awards. "I don't know anything about it."

It seems that Bradley Cooper can do no wrong (yes, I even enjoyed The Words). His star is shining brighter than most in Hollywood these days and though he has a vast amount of high profile projects on his plate, you can now add one more: a Lance Armstrong Biopic which is being produced by J.J. Abrams. Of course, Abrams is pretty busy now that he has been confirmed to direct Star Wars: Episode VII, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t spending time working on other projects.
The director has apparently been in talks with Cooper for the lead role in the Armstrong film, saying “[Cooper] sent me an email and we’ve been talking.” Now, that’s far, far from official and it could mean absolutely nothing, but it’s an intriguing prospect nonetheless. “Talking” can mean a lot of things but something tells us that Abrams...

Ask, and ye shall receive. Or something. In the wake of all that noise around Lance Armstrong's confession that he doped, Bradley Cooper told the BBC he'd be interested in playing the disgraced cyclist. "I remember Matt Damon was going to do his autobiography at one point years ago," he said. "I remember thinking, that would be a great character, I'd love to play that character. I would love to do something, I think he's pretty fascinating." Well, it just might happen. On the list of things J.J. Abrams is doing besides directing "Star Wars: Episode 7," at some point in the indeterminate future is a biopic on Armstrong, a project that surfaced just over a week ago. And it seems Cooper and Abrams have already been in touch. "[Cooper] sent me an email and we've been talking," Abrams shared with Et. And that's it. We'd say it's probably too...

Is J.J. Abrams busy enough? "Star Trek Into Darkness" is hitting theaters this summer, and yesterday brought news that he'll be directing the next "Star Wars" film. He also has a biopic of shamed cyclist Lance Armstrong in the pipeline. However, he's still making time for TV projects. Now that "Fringe" is coming to an end, the uber-producer is ramping up two new pilots at two different networks. First, at Fox, Abrams’ untitled Bad Robot/J.H.
