Diversity does not equal representation, an unfortunate truth many Asian and Asian American actors in Hollywood have grappled with for decades. When Sherry Cola realized she'd been cast as a lead actor in "Joy Ride," which hit theaters on July 7, the mental shift required to process the reality of the situation was jarring.
"There was a moment where Ashley [Park] and I had a really long day, and the two of us were in the van, going back to our hotel, and we were so tired because it'd been like 12 hours of filming this incredible, rare film," Cola tells Popsugar. "And I tell Ashley, 'Wow, everything we've filmed so far is important, like every scene is a big scene.' I was just in shock, reflecting, and she looks at me and says, 'I guess this is what it's like to be a lead.

“I wanted to venture into something a little bit more mature, a little bit darker [with] a little bit more grit to it — something for me to have some fun with,” Stanley, who got her start playing Kim Possible in several live action adaptations of the Disney series, told TheWrap. “‘Somewhere in Queens’ was like that for me, too,” Stanley added, referring to Ray Romano’s recently released drama. “It was exactly what I was looking for.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar has spoken to The Hollywood Reporter about those claims suggesting creator Joss Whedon made the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” set a “toxic” environment.
Star of the show Charisma Carpenter was among the first to make allegations about Whedon’s alleged behaviour back in early 2021.
Gellar previously insisted “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon,” adding that she wouldn’t be making any further statements about it at that time.

Shoniqua Shandai is on a mission to make music as her vehicle to showcase the multifacets of Black women, and I, for one, am buckling my seatbelt. The Harlem star has a music video in the works for her debut R&b single, "Something About You," which she describes as having a Toni Braxton meets Aaliyah sound.
In doing the music video - the first of many to come - Shoniqua told Popsugar she hopes to tell the story of a "new curvy leading lady, a new romantic lead, [and] a new Cinderella." "I think it's so important to see dark skin on screen together in love," she went on to say. And who better to direct the project than her Harlem costar Meagan Good? "There's no other better way that I could have done it unless Beyoncé was involved," Shoniqua joked. I mean, hello. Black Is King...
