Chris Pratt would struggle to play Star-Lord away from 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.The 43-year-old actor returns as the character in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' in the concluding movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise but is wary of featuring in other films as he wouldn't want to work without the other cast members.Asked about returning alongside a different cast, Chris told ComicBook.com: "That's so daunting. That's the reason not do it. I think it would have... it's so elegant and perfect right now with the three films and so to think of moving forward, it's really hard and without James (Gunn), I don't know that would work. I'm open to it, but man, I don't know."Chris recently revealed that he almost gave up on auditioning for Marvel movies after he missed out on roles in 'Thor' and other blockbusters.

What sets James Gunn's superhero movies apart from the rest is his attention to character. His heroes always begin anything but; rather, they're selfish people broken by the past who find new purpose together. This, plus the right blend of humor and earnestness that most of his contemporaries can never strike, means that Gunn's movies do the "found family" trope much better than other blockbusters.
Aside from some detours in "Avengers" movies (and writing decisions that Gunn contests), the Guardians of the Galaxy have been Gunn's sole purview. That means he's crafted their character arcs as arcs, rather than just whatever characterization the shared universe demands. So where does that leave his lead, Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?"
/Film's Jenna Busch attended a press conference headlined by the "Guardians" cast. There, Pratt spoke about where Quill is at in this comic trilogy capper.

Before he reimagines DC's on-screen universe, James Gunn is wrapping up his Marvel Cinematic Universe run with "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3." Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige may well be hoping the final entry in Gunn's trilogy is enough to rescue the MCU, which seems to be churning out increasingly bland projects at breakneck speed.
But Gunn has always had a certain filmmaking flair that's helped his "Guardians" movies stand out from the pack, infusing his superhero films (and television show) with heart, humor, and a unique visual style. As such, "Vol. 3" is the McU's great hope, and if early reactions from fan screenings are anything to go by, the film might just have succeeded in bringing Feige's cinematic universe back from the brink (unless /Film's Chris Evangelista is right and "Vol. 3" is indeed a rushed and uneven end to the trilogy).

In Anthony and Joe Russo's 2018 superhero flick "Avengers: Infinity War," a genocide-focused space alien named Thanos (Josh Brolin) was hellbent on acquiring six all-powerful stones that, when assembled, could essentially grant any wish. Thanos, a military man, was deeply concerned about over-population and poor resource allocation throughout the universe. Because he was raised as a soldier and wasn't terribly imaginative, Thanos' only solution for said problems was to kill off half of the universe in a single instant. Hence his need for Infinity Stones.
Because the stones were ineffably mystical, acquiring them took some work. One of the stones would only be given to him, for instance, if he made a blood sacrifice by throwing a loved one off a cliff. He chose to murder Gamora (Zoe Saldaña), his adopted daughter. This angered and dismayed Peter (Chris Pratt) a.k.a. Star-Lord, the kind-of leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy,...

Right-wing Christians who claim to have “prophetic” insight into America’s “spiritual warfare” are declaring Fox News’ decision to sack Tucker Carlson a victory for Lucifer.

The first "Guardians of the Galaxy" remains one of the high watermarks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that managed to capture lightning in a bottle, when it danced its way into theaters back in 2014. The long superhero saga that finally culminated with "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" was a staggering accomplishment, balancing a multitude of beloved comic book characters with unrivaled action set pieces and high emotional stakes. But there was something special about the rag-tag group of misfits in James Gunn's far-out space opera that tapped into something truly magical.
The original rogues' gallery of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) overcame all odds to assemble one of the most unlikely team-ups in the history of the MCU. Close viewers of HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon may have noticed a troubling trend with the House Velaryon of Driftmark. As season 1 of the prequel progressed, the ancient family with Valyrian roots (much like the Targaryens) seemed to be running low on potential heirs.
Lord Corlys Velaryon a.k.a. The Sea Snake (Steve Toussaint) is about as powerful as a Westerosi noble can be. Thanks to his fruitful voyages across The Narrow Sea, Corlys’s house is blessed with untold riches and influence. Yet, as we saw with his close call near the end of the season, Corlys can’t live forever. One day someone will have to succeed him as Lord of the Tides and sit atop the Driftwood Throne. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-verse takes the concept the first film sets up of there being multiple Spider-Persons spread across the Multiverse, and absolutely sprints with it by introducing a huge number of additional multiversal Spider-Heroes. Several recent MCU films approach this idea, such as Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man: Quantumania. However, Across the Spider-verse is set to include such gleeful abandon and diversity that its infinite Spiders deserve special attention. Lord and Miller often do a wonderful job of integrating their character and worldbuilding into the narrative, so no prior knowledge is necessary. But for those interested in a...

Is Jinkx Monsoon playing Doctor Who’s first musical villain? Their costume might be a major giveaway
Doctor Who fans have been given their first look at Jinkx Monsoon as the Doctor’s “most powerful enemy yet” – and the drag queen’s costume seems might just hint at a new direction for the show.
Earlier this month, fans of the sci-fi series and RuPaul’s Drag Race alike were delighted by the announcement that drag queen Jinkx – who identifies as non-binary and uses they/she pronouns – was joining the BBC series.
The US-based performer will star opposite Ncuti Gatwa’s incoming 15th Doctor in the next full series of Doctor Who, which kicks off over Christmas after three special episodes seeing the brief return of fan-favourite Time Lord, David Tennant.
Details about Gatwa’s tenure as the Doctor have been kept tightly under wraps, with the original announcement that Jinkx would have a “major role” in the new series predictably prompting rabid speculation from fans.

Led Zeppelin had many songs with fantastical imagery. “Immigrant Song” is a perfect example of a song that blends visions of mythology into an epic rock song. One fantasy author who influenced members of Led Zeppelin was J. R. R. Tolkien, the legendary writer of The Lord of the Rings series. Warning: contains major spoilers for the Seven Kings Must Die ending.
That battle was the crowning moment of Seven Kings Must Die, twenty-plus minutes of visceral squelch and blood flying on a scale that The Last Kingdom hasn’t seen before.
But after the fighting was over, when the dead had been counted and the wounded carried away to their fates, the film ended with a quiet scene that concluded a thread woven throughout this story from the start. Alfred’s dream was finally achieved – England was formed – not by him, nor by Edward, but by King Aethelstan and Uhtred Ragnarsson, who was left hanging in the balance between life and death.
Does Uhtred Die at the End of the Film?
As the narrator of Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories, Uhtred obviously survives into old age in the books in order to tell his tale. The film Seven Kings Must Die,...

Warning: spoilers for The Last Kingdom seasons 1-5 and the Saxon Stories .
It’s been over a year since The Last Kingdom TV series ended, and this multi-location show with its many Aethelflaeds, Aethelreds, Aethelhelms, Aethelstans, Aelswiths and Aelfwynns (honestly just the tip of the ‘ae’ iceberg) has never been the easiest to keep straight. If you’d benefit from a reminder of where things were left and who everybody is in new feature length Netflix film Seven Kings Must Die then, you’re more than excused.
First of all, it’s important to know that the TV show ended roughly in line with events at the end of The Flame Bearer, Book 10 in Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories saga. That’s when Uhtred Ragnarsson took possession of his ancestral fortress of Bebbanburg, after winning it back from his treacherous cousin Whitgar. Three further novels exist to conclude Uhtred’s story,...

When Nobunaga and his forces are destroyed by another warlord, Yasuke flees and finds a quiet retirement as a boatman outside a small village. When he's asked to help a sick little girl get to a doctor, he soon finds himself called on to fight once again.
With only six episodes, it's entirely likely that "Yasuke" will leave you wanting more. Fortunately, there are lots of other anime series out there for you to watch, and quite a few of them have similar settings and themes. We've put together a list of anime you should check out once you've watched Yasuke, and...

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Victoria Jackson quoted Bible verses to support her condemnation of her city’s local Gay Pride Parade.
Footage of the 63-year-old comedian speaking at Franklin City Hall in Tennessee was streamed on the city’s YouTube channel during Tuesday’s (11 April) meeting.
In the video, Jackson – who featured on the longrunning US sketch show from 1986 to 1992 – introduces herself by name at the podium, before announcing that “God hates sodomy”.
“He hates homosexuality – he said it’s an abomination. And God hates sexual immorality, all kinds,” she says.
“And God hates pride. Like, one of the most things he hates is pride,” she adds, before reading Proverbs 11:12.
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace but with humility comes wisdom. The Lord detests all the proud of heart.”

The "Game of Thrones" universe keeps on expanding. On April 12, Max, formerly known as HBO Max, confirmed that George R. R. Martin's three "Dunk and Egg" novellas are being converted into a prequel series for the streamer called "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight."
The novellas follow "Egg," future king Aegon V Targaryen, and "Dunk," future Lord Commander of the Kingsguard Ser Duncan the Tall, as they explore Westeros together. The events of the novellas take place around 100 years before the events of "Game of Thrones."
"A century before the events of 'Game of Thrones,' two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros . . . a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg," a press release's description reads. In late February 2022, the cast of Netflix’s roaring historical drama, The Last Kingdom, were in icy Budapest. They were filming the final scenes of the franchise’s movie spinoff, Seven Kings Must Die. It was also the month that Putin’s Russian army invaded Ukraine, around 700 miles east of Hungary’s capital. “There are no words for a situation like that,” says Alexander Dreymon, the 40-year-old German star and producer of Seven Kings, as he recounts the influx of refugees that came through the Budapest train station. “You know, a lot of Hungarian families opened their doors to Ukrainians.” He recalls how he and his castmates lent a hand by shuttling Ukrainians to Hungarian homes. “We met a lot of people who had fled Ukraine,” he says, solemnly. “It was very moving. We would go to the train station to see if people needed rides. It’s heartbreaking. And...

King Charles III's coronation is around the corner, and little by little, plans are being revealed. As well as Camilla being crowned alongside the king, we also know that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will have starring roles in the coronation procession, not to mention the UK has been given an extra bank holiday over the May 6 weekend, too. There's set to be a coronation concert the following day, and supermarkets have already begun launching limited-edition coronation-themed food. But how much do you really know about what a coronation actually means?
The upcoming coronation will be the first in living memory for many onlookers, as the last ceremony of this kind took place in 1953 for the late Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. While we know it marks a change in the monarchy, what is the point of the ceremony? Isn't Charles already the king? And who pays for the grand ceremony?...

Exclusive: Standing at the Sky’s Edge, which won best musical at the Olivier Awards Sunday night, will transfer to the West End’s Gillian Lynne Theatre early in 2024, Deadline can reveal.
The show written by playwright Chris Bush, featuring rock songs from the catalog of Richard Hawley, moves into the Gillian Lynne from February for an initial six-month season.
It won two prizes at Sunday’s ceremony: the all-important best musical honor and original score or new orchestrations for Hawley’s music and lyrics and Tom Deering’s orchestrations.
The story is set in Park Hill, a brutalist apartment block built in the early 1960s, and follows three families who occupy one particular flat at different periods over six decades. Hawley describes it as a “love letter” to his hometown of Sheffield in South Yorkshire.

Remember how big and crazy Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse felt when you first saw it? The porcine Peter Porker cracking wise. Peni Parker’s Sailor Moon-esque mechsuit. Nic Cage, its makers promise the super-sized sequel will be anchored in emotion too.
