A trailer for Prey has just arrived online – and no, we’re not talking about that Predator movie that was just released a while back. This is a new movie called Prey, which Vertical will be giving a theatrical and VOD release on March 15th. It seems kind of soon to be sending another movie called Prey out into the world, but clearly Vertical disagrees. Ryan Phillippe (Shooter), Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe), and Mena Suvari (American Beauty) star in this “nature run amok” survival thriller, and you can check out the trailer in the embed above. A poster for the film can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil, who previously worked with Phillippe on the 2022 thriller Collide and with Hirsch on the 2022 thriller The Immaculate Room, Prey has the following synopsis: After an extremist militant group threatens their lives,...

“Voodoo Macbeth” credits no fewer than 10 directors and eight screenwriters, all of them students of or recent graduates from the USC School of the Cinematic Arts. And arguably the most impressive thing about the USC-produced movie — a fanciful dramatization of Orson Welles’ historic 1936 New York production of “Macbeth” with an all-Black cast — is how smoothly it plays as all of one piece. To be sure, you might quibble about certain dramatic liberties the creatives have taken to embellish real-life events — or, in some cases, to completely rewrite history covered in Orson Welles biographies and documentaries. And yes, the film overall is more diverting than stirring. Still, there is a good deal more than novelty value going for this group effort.

In lots of cases, it can take actors a very long time to finally get their big break. In Jeremy Tardy’s case, however, that opportunity came in just a few short years. After making his first on-screen appearance in 2015, Jeremy got a break-out opportunity two years later when he was cast in the Netflix series Dear White People. Although his character, Rashid, was a significant part of the show, Jeremy decided that he wasn’t going to return for the fourth and final season. Jeremy accused the show’s production company, Lionsgate, of racial discrimination. While the decision to walk away

The actor took to social media on Friday, Sept. 11 to announce his departure from the Netflix series, which is produced by Lionsgate. Tardy explained the reasoning for his decision in a series of tweets, writing, "Unfortunately I will not be joining Netflix's Dear White People for its fourth and final season due to my experience with Lionsgate and their practices of racial discrimination." Jeremy Tardy, who played Rashid Mburu in a recurring role on Netflix’s “Dear White People,” has exited the satirical comedy ahead of its fourth season and accused producer Lionsgate of racial discrimination.
In a Facebook post Friday evening, Tardy said he had been offered to return for several episodes in the show’s upcoming fourth and final season. Tardy said he was disturbed when his counteroffer was rejected, as one of his white colleagues revealed they had received the same initial offer and had successfully negotiated a counteroffer.
Tardy along with six other recurring cast members, banded together on August 31 to reject Lionsgate’s initial offers.
“Our stance was to move powerfully as a unit in the negotiation process and, more importantly, to stand on principle because this is not simply a monetary matter,” Tardy said in the Facebook post. “We were all aware of the notorious pay disparities...

Jeremy Tardy, a recurring actor on the Lionsgate-produced Netflix series “Dear White People,” announced on Twitter that he would not be returning to the show, and alleged that the studio discriminated against him during pay negotiations. Lionsgate has denied the claims, calling it “a purely financial matter.”
“After being offered to return for several episodes my team was notified that our counter offer would not be considered and that the initial offer was the ‘best and final,'” he tweeted. “This news was disturbing because one of my white colleagues — being a true ally — revealed that they too had received the same initial offer and had successfully negotiated a counter offer.”
Tardy, who played the character of Rashid Bakr across 11 episodes, said that his team had brought up the issue to Lionsgate, alleging that the studio allowed a white actor to negotiate while remaining firm on its offer to Tardy.

“68 Whiskey” has been canceled at Paramount Network after one season, according to Deadline.
The military medic comedy-drama series from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard finished airing in March. It’s currently streaming on CBS All Access.

Exclusive: Paramount Network has opted not to pick up a second season of comedic drama 68 Whiskey, an adaptation of the Israeli TV series Charlie Golf One.
The show, from Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios, was well received with a 88% fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating. It also got off to a strong TV ratings start, with the January 15 premiere drawing 2 million viewers in Live+3 Nielsen numbers to mark the most-watched cable drama series premiere in the metric since November 2018. Following the promising premiere the ratings slipped, however, and overall the series ranked outside of the Top 100 in total viewers, adults 18-49 and 25-54 year-to-date (Live+3).
68 Whiskey‘s cancellation leaves powerhouse Yellowstone as Paramount Network’s only current original scripted series. The net’s dramedy Emily In Paris recently relocated to Netflix. Paramount Network earlier this year gave a series order to drama Coyote starring Michael Chiklis.

Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Paramount Network series, 68 Whiskey, will manifest as a military dramedy.
68 Whiskey is ready to make its mark as the next blue-chip television offering on the rebranded-from-Spike-tv and still-burgeoning Paramount Network, set as the first original series to accompany its hit drama, Yellowstone.
The series, an Americanized adaptation of Israeli television offering Charlie Golf One, is a modern military dramedy that arrives under the auspices of executive producers in Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Of course, 68 Whiskey will immediately evoke the memory of M*A*S*H., since, like that classic series, it centers on the daily travails (and hijinks) of military combat medics – in this case stationed in Afghanistan. Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios are producing the series.

It seems Squirrel Girl is out of her tree, at least temporarily. Although they picked up the 10-episode first season of Marvel's New Warriors TV show back in April of 2017, Freeform has now cancelled its order for the half-hour live-action superhero comedy. THR reports that since Freeform has declined to move forward with New Warriors, Marvel is shopping the series to other outlets in preparation for a 2018 release. Marvel's New Warriors centers on "...six young people learning to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates." Legendary character actor Keith David has joined the cast of Marvel's upcoming series New Warriors! This will reunite David with showrunner Kevin Biegel. They worked together on the 2014 series Enlisted.
According to THR, David will take on the role of Ernest Vigman, "a caustic municipal employee who butts up against the hopeful energy of the new warriors." This will be a reoccurring role in the series. I'm such a huge fan of David and his work whose film career pretty much started with John Carpenter's The Thing.
David will join Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) as Squirrel Girl; Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Mister Immortal; Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People) as Night Thrasher; Calum Worthy (Austin and Ally) as Speedball; Matthew Moy (Two Brok Girls) as Microbe; Kate Comer as Debrii.

Earlier this year Marvel and Freeform revealed that character that would be included in their upcoming New Warriors series. Today they announced the cast that would be playing those characters. I've included that list below along with their character descriptions.
Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) will play Squirrel Girl:
Doreen Green (Squirrel Girl)
Superpower: “The powers of a squirrel, the powers of a girl” (is acrobatic, strong, can fight, can talk to squirrels) Doreen is a totally empowered fangirl. She is a natural leader—confident and tough, but not innocent. Doreen is bouncy and energetic and her greatest quality is her optimism… She has faith in others and inspires people to believe in themselves. She also takes her pet squirrel, Tippy Toe, everywhere.
Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) will play Mister Immortal:
Craig Hollis (Mister Immortal)
