Bad Boys apparently really are for life as it seems that this action-packed franchise isn’t ending anytime soon with Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys 4 set to reach theatres in just a couple months. This series, centered on detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett of the Miami Police Department, has already produced three blockbuster films that have grossed over $840 million as well as a spinoff television show, L.A.’s Finest, making it one of the most successful buddy-cop action-comedy series in history. The most recent film, Bad Boys for Life, was one of the last movies to hit theaters before the pandemic shut them all down and was able to be a critical and box office success – so why would the franchise stop now? Will Smith and Martin Lawrence (Lowery and Burnett) are back for the fourth film, and this is music to the ears of fans of the series since...

You imagine that it wasn’t discussed if a fourth Bad Boys film might happen. Because 2020’s long-awaited threequel ended up arriving with the title Bad Boys For Life – a name that would have been perfect for a fourth instalment in the series. But never mind – here we are, and given that For Life was a huge hit (earning over $400 million off a $90 million budget) it makes sense that Hollywood has pivoted right into another film. This one arrives with the title Bad Boys: Ride Or Die – and once again sees Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, shooting their way through all kinds of antics. This time, their boss, played by Joe Pantoliano, is framed for nefarious antics – sending Mike and Marcus on the run by association. Check out the trailer:

Initially titled Bad Boys IV, the fourth installment in the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence-led action comedy franchise, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, is going to be released on June 7, 2024, and the studio is hoping to repeat the success of Bad Boys for Life, 2020’s third film, which revived the franchise after 17 years and 2003’s Bad Boys II. Now, less than three months before the scheduled premiere, the first official trailer for the upcoming movie has been released.
The movie was originally scheduled to be released in 2019, before the third movie, but due to various circumstances, it was eventually removed from the release schedule completely until 2023, when it was confirmed that the movie is set for a 2024 release, and as things stand now, the movie is set to be released according to the schedule.

The boys are officially back and badder than ever. As a shining example in the increasingly popular genre known as "Dudes rock" cinema, it was only a matter of time before Sony brought back the buddy-cop "Bad Boys" franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. 2020's "Bad Boys For Life" felt like a fitting enough swan song for our favorite dynamic duo, even without the presence of Michael "Master of Bayhem" Bay in the director's chair. But newcomers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (known collectively as Adil & Bilall) capably channeled the spirit of the original two movies and proved there was still a little more juice to be squeezed out of this action series. Fast forward a few years, a pandemic, and one deeply unfortunate Oscars controversy later, and the quartet of Smith, Lawrence, and Adil & Bilall are gearing up to do it all over again.

Will Smith is back to throwing hands — for good, this time — in Sony’s first trailer for its new “Bad Boys” movie. Along with the trailer, we got a title: “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” Hell yes.
Smith and his sidekick Martin Lawrence are back up to their old antics in the June 7 film. Four years removed from “Bad Boys 3,” in what we’ve all just colloquially called “Bad Boys 4” to this point, Smith’s Mike Lowrey is still a badass. Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett, well, he has a lot going on — including tummy issues. (A word of advice to Marcus: ginger ale is only a magic elixir if you forego the Skittles and convenience-store hot dog.)
The storyline goes a little something like this: Joe Pantoliano’s Capt. Conrad Howard is either dead or just being framed for a string of crimes he did not commit. He...

Jacob Scipio is headed back to the “Bad Boys” universe.
Scipio, who most recently starred opposite Pedro Pascal and Nicolas Cage in the meta adventure “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” will reprise his role as Armando Aretas – the estranged son of Will Smith’s Miami-Dade police detective character Mike Lowery.
Scipio appeared in 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life,” the action film led by Smith and Martin Lawrence. Further plot details are currently under wraps.
The fourth film also features Paola Núnez, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig and “Euphoria’s” Eric Dane. The original “Bad Boys” earned $141 million at the global box office, while the 2003 sequel “Bad Boys II” totaled $273 million. “Bad Boys for Life” outgrossed its predecessors with a combined $426.5 million. The new film will open June 7.

Sony is seemingly asking Lionsgate, “Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do now that Bad Boys 4 is coming for you?” It was recently reported that the John Wick spin-off, Ballerina, starring Ana De Armas, will be undergoing extensive reshoots, which will push the release date back from June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025. According to John Wick star Ian McShane, “They’re new-shooting for Ballerina. You know, it’s like, they’ve gotta protect the franchise. […] And they wanna make it better cause they have to protect [the franchise].” However, Lionsgate, in need of a summer release, would move The Crow reboot, which comes from filmmaker Rupert Sanders and stars Bill Skarsgård, into Ballerina‘s original release date.
Deadline now reports that Sony is gunning for the same release date for their Will Smith and Martin Lawrence buddy-cop action-comedy sequel. Bad Boys 4 was originally slated for a premiere on June 14, but after the news...

Sony’s latest Bad Boys sequel had a theatrical release date of June 14, 2024. But the studio really wants June 7, and that’s where it’s now dating the Will Smith-Martin Lawrence reteam.
News of the change Monday comes in the wake of Lionsgate pushing its John Wick spinoff Ballerina a year, from June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025. The Santa Monica-based studio backfilled the date with its reboot of The Crow from filmmaker Rupert Sanders.
However, Sony will have Imax and PLFs for Bad Boys 4, which is still awaiting a title.
Bad Boys for Life filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah return to direct Smith and Lawrence for the latest installment off a screenplay by Chris Bremner. Producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith and Doug Belgrad. Executive producers are Lawrence, James Lassiter, Chad Oman, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman and Jon Mone.

Filming wrapped on director Eli Roth‘s adaptation of the Borderlands video game series from Gearbox and 2K way back in June of 2021. A year and a half later, Deadpool director Tim Miller had to step in to handle the project’s two weeks of reshoots because Roth had the chance to finally – after sixteen years – make a feature based on the Thanksgiving faux trailer he put together for the Quentin Tarantino / Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse. The Borderlands reshoots have been completed, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Lionsgate is now gearing up to finally release Borderlands into the world on August 9th. With just over five months to go until that date arrives, Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for the film, and you can check that out in the embed above.

A group of screenwriters including Eli Roth, Graham Yost and Amy Chozick have issued an open letter decrying the Writers Guild of America’s silence on last week’s Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.
In the letter, posted to the blog site Medium, the screenwriters mention the statements already issued by other Hollywood guilds, including SAG-AFTRA and the directors’ guild.
“When it comes to taking a stand, the Writers Guild of America has always led by example,” the statement said. “When employers sought to exploit our work, the Guild bravely spoke up. When the BLM movement took flight, the Guild rightfully spoke up. When the #MeToo reckoning came and Hollywood needed to change, again the Guild spoke up. But when terrorists invaded Israel to murder, rape, and kidnap Jews… the Guild stayed silent. It remains the only major Hollywood union to do so.”

Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom is crashing the summer movie season for the first time as Sony Pictures has set a July 12, 2024, release date for its third “Venom” movie. The film is untitled at this time. Hardy’s previous two comic book tentpoles, 2018’s “Venom” and 2021’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” both opened at the start of October. Sony’s “Venom 3” release date puts in square in the middle of Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” and Universal’s “Twisters”.
Sony has also dated the fourth “Bad Boys” movie, which will once again reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The untitled sequel will open over Father’s Day weekend on June 14, 2024. That puts the action tentpole up against Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.”

Columbia Pictures on Friday filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court as part of a dispute over rights to the original Bad Boys movie. The 1995 Will Smith-Martin Lawrence buddy comedy was a hit that spawned a franchise, with two sequels and a third in the works, that has grossed more than $840 million at the global box office.
The breach-of-contract suit (read it here) filed in the Central District of California, Western Division, is in response to copyright termination notices filed in 2020 by George Gallo, who co-wrote the story on which the first film was based, and Robert Israel.
Columbia argues that Gallo’s story, written in 1985 and called “Bulletproof Hearts,” was a work for hire via his company Sweet Revenge. Works for hire “are not subject to termination under Section 203 of the Copyright Act,” the studio says.

Having broken big as one of the best things about the excellent Better Call Saul, Rhea Seehorn is headed to big screen franchise world. She's joining the cast of Bad Boys 4.
Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are at work on the movie in Atlanta, with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back as Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett.
The storyline, scripted by Chris Bremner, is under wraps for now, though we do know that Paola Núnez, Vanessa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig are back as their characters from the previous film and Ioan Gruffudd is new this time. Seehorn's character is, as you'd expect, a mystery.

“Better Call Saul” breakout Rhea Seehorn will be joining Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the untitled fourth “Bad Boys” film, TheWrap has confirmed. Details of her character – and anything else pertaining to the plot of the movie – are being heavily guarded but no doubt will occur somewhere in Miami.
Seehorn played lawyer Kim Wexler for 60 episodes on Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s “Better Call Saul,” a spinoff of the popular “Breaking Bad” that is the rare example of a spinoff being just as good (if not better) than the original.
Seehorn has also been in several movies, everything from the Tim Allen version of “The Shaggy Dog” back in 2006, to the Netflix horror movie “Things Heard & Seen” with Amanda Seyfried (from “American Splendor” filmmakers Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini), but this fourth “Bad Boys” will definitely be her biggest movie yet.

Los Angeles, May 18 (Ians) Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy is readying his magnifying glass, as the actor is in talks to star as Inspector Clouseau in upcoming ‘Pink Panther’ film.
The reboot of the classic property will be directed by ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ filmmaker Jeff Fowler. Chris Bremner is writing the script, while Rideback’s Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich serve as producers alongside Larry Mirisch and Julie Andrews, reports Variety.
‘The Pink Panther’ franchise began with the 1963 comedy film starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Sellers would go on to reprise the role in 1964’s ‘A Shot in the Dark,’ 1975’s ‘The Return of the Pink Panther,’ 1976’s ‘The Pink Panther Strikes Again’ and 1978’s ‘Revenge of the Pink Panther.’ The role has also been inhabited by Alan Arkin, Roger Moore and Steve Martin.

It honestly seems a little surprising that in the midst of a career upswing, Eddie Murphy would look to tread territory that others have covered, to varying levels of success. But here he is, in negotiations to star in MGM's new take on The Pink Panther.
If he does make a deal, Murphy will be the iconic Inspector Clouseau, as brought to life by Peter Sellers in the 1960s movies and Steve Martin to less critical acclaim in the 2000s.
Sonic The Hedgehog filmmaker Jeff Fowler is directing from a script by Chris Bremner (who co-wrote Bad Boys For Life and the upcoming fourth entry in the franchise). This new take on the Panther format would utilize a blend of live-action and CG to see Clouseau teaming up with the Panther for the first time.
A new Pink Panther film is in the works with Eddie Murphy is in talks to portray the iconic Inspector Jacques Clouseau.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be directed Jeff Fowler (Sonic the Hedgehog) from a script written by Chris Bremner. Dan Lin, Jonathan Eirich, Larry Mirisch, and Julie Andrews will serve as producers.
In keeping with The Pink Panther’’s long history, the project is said to mix the original franchise — a comedy-mystery based on Clouseau’s misadventures as a detective — and the cartoon feline that quickly became the subject of its own series. As a live action-cgi hybrid, the movie will reportedly see a human cast break the animated panther out of prison in order to complete another heist.
Clouseau was made famous by Peter Sellers, who portrayed the French policeman in the original 1963 Pink Panther film before reprising the role for two sequels in the ’70s.

Eddie Murphy is in negotiations to star in Pink Panther, a new movie based on the beloved mascot for Owens Corning Fiberglass Insulation.
Should the deal close, Eddie Murphy would star in Pink Panther as Inspector Clouseau. The original movie starred Peter Sellers as Clouseau as he tracks down a notorious jewel thief known as “The Phantom” before he is able to steal a priceless diamond known as “The Pink Panther”. The opening credits included the cartoon panther that audiences have come to associate with the franchise, and sources told THR that this new project will attempt to meld both worlds. The live-action/CG hybrid movie is said to see “the Pink Panther’s live-action crew break him out of his animated prison to do a heist job.“

Eddie Murphy is going pink.
The actor is in negotiations to star in Pink Panther, the MGM comedy based on the classic property. He would star as Inspector Clouseau.
Sonic the Hedgehog filmmaker Jeff Fowler is directing from a script by Chris Bremner, with Rideback’s Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich (Aladdin) producing via their Rideback banner. Larry Mirisch and Julie Andrews are also producing.
The Pink Panther films told the adventures of bumbling Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers), with the first film involving a jewel called the Pink Panther. A cartoon panther appeared in the opening credits, and became popular in his own right, starring in cartoons over the decades.
According to sources, the new feature project would be a live-action/CG hybrid and would combine both traditions. The premise takes a buddy cop movie tone to the proceedings with the Inspector and Panther teaming up for the first time ever on the big-screen.

One of the teases unveiled at CinemaCon this week during the Sony panel is the follow-up to the successful third entry in the Martin Lawrence-Will Smith buddy cop action comedy Bad Boys. Bad Boys for Life became 2020’s most successful movie when it got its release at the start of the year before Covid would shut down theaters for some time. Even without the pandemic, the film likely would have raked in the cash due to the popularity of the first two films.

It feels like a lifetime ago that "Bad Boys for Life" came roaring out the gate in January 2020, breathing fresh life into the '90s-born "Bad Boys" buddy cop action-comedy franchise and firmly establishing directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (aka Adil & Bilall) as skilled filmmakers capable of delivering a worthy "Bad Boys" sequel, even without the "Bayhem." Taking home a series-high 424 million, the movie kicked off what promised to be a big year at the box office. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.
One pandemic and an over-discussed incident involving one of the property's lead actors later, "Bad Boys 4" is, finally, officially moving forward at Sony Pictures. Franchise leads Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return to headline the as-yet-untitled sequel, which is currently in "early pre-production" (per Sony's announcement) and has Adil & Bilall once again directing from a script by "Bad Boys for Life" scribe Chris Bremner.
