Jim Strouse's sleeper summer hit features an agile, very funny Jemaine Clement sparring with Stephanie Allynne, Jessica Williams, Michael Chernus (of Noah Baumbach's Mistress America), Regina Hall, Gia Gadsby and Aundrea Gadsby.
Virginia and Alessandro Nivola, The Elephant Man, playwrights Will Eno and Alan Ayckbourn with a touch of Alain Resnais and a John Singer Sargent portrait, form a frame to our conversation. I connect Jim's composer Mark Orton (out of Alexander Payne's Nebraska) to Walter Slezak in Alfred Hitchcock's Lifeboat, Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Silence De La Mer, Marlene Dietrich in Stanley Kramer's Judgement at Nuremberg and Madeline Kahn in Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles, and he connects Chernus and Clement to Men In Black 3.

Read More: Sundance Review: Jemaine Clement, Jessica Williams and More Shine in 'People, Places and Things' After earning critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival in January, James C. Strouse's comedy-drama "People Places Things" is gearing up for its August theatrical release with two imaginative new posters that bring the world of the film to life in all its graphic novel glory. "Flight of the Conchords" star Jemaine Clement plays a newly single father trying to find love while also raising his children, working as a teacher and letting his ex-wife go. Regina Hall, Jessica Williams, Stephanie Allynne, Michael Chernus and sisters Aundrea and Gia Gadsby co-star. Since Clement's singe father is a graphic novelist and professor, and much of the film concerns his artwork and illustrations, distributor Film Arcade has crafted two alternative movie posters based on artwork from the film by Gray Williams that would make the central character.
