In the niche world of comedy touring, Mike Berkowitz has always been “the guy.” Over his 21-year career, the agent has been a go-to dealmaker in the live entertainment space, diversifying the income of star clients and launching digital crossovers.
Berkowitz, who co-heads WME’s comedy group, first distinguished himself by tapping into the lucrative college market. He also blazed a trail for new acts to reach stadium-level stardom in a landscape where only the likes of Eddie Murphy and George Carlin once played.
The sector has exploded in the past decade, and Berkowitz has been at the forefront. In 2022, he booked and shepherded production on Bill Burr’s 31 million-grossing tour, as well as Kevin Hart and Chris Rock’s co-headlining shows. He sent out John Mulaney (50.2 million) and Amy Schumer (9 mil- lion), the latter for her first tour in five years. Next, he’ll map out dates for Ramy Youssef,...

Jimmy Kimmel is a man of his word. Next week’s guest lineup forJimmy Kimmel Live! has been released and, true to his promise, Ariel Elias is set for Monday.
You may remember that Elias is the comedian who had a full beer thrown at her onstage by the husband of a belligerent heckler. It was Elias’ reaction that made video of the moment go viral: She picked up the beer and defiantly chugged it.
When Kimmel lauded her “gutsy performance” on Twitter, Elias made another gutsy move and asked Kimmel if she could make her “late night debut” on his show. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host replied, “definitely.” And now he’s made good on that promise.
Elias will appear with Josh Gad and Pamela Adlon (Slumberkins). She’s listed as a guest, so it’s unclear if she’ll be performing, being interviewed or both.

A Jewish comedian turned an awful moment into a pretty hilarious one when she showed how to deal with drunk hecklers yelling at her about Joe Biden on a touring comedy show.
The incident occurred at Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club at Point Pleasant, New Jersey while Ariel Elias was performing. She confirmed the incident was real online and posted a full video of the ordeal.
Elias, who was accompanied by fellow stand-up Gianmarco Scoresi told Buzzfeed News that a group of about 20 was drinking heavily upon their arrival, and apparently attracted their attention because they were all wearing slightly offensive Mexican-themed outfits.
She apparently did a few minutes of material before launching into a Q&a segment to allow for some audience participation. This is when the video begins, and the heckler is heard offscreen asking Elias “Did you vote for Donald Trump?”
The woman apparently already knew the answer to her own question,...

“If u saw me kick a guys ass after the show last night, I am sorry,” wrote comedian Kim Congdon on Twitter this weekend. “He sexually assaulted me after my set (and bragged about it on his way out), ruining an otherwise perfect night for me.”
Congdon — whose credits include Impractical Jokers, Stoned Science, Broad Topics on YouTube as well as her This Bitch podcast and appearances on big-name podcasts such as The Joe Rogan Experience and Kill Tony — was opening for Joey Diaz at Sony Hall in New York when, she told Deadline tonight, the incident took place.
“I had left my phone on a tripod near the sound booth and went to get it” after her set, Congdon said. That took her through the crowd. “The guy must have been walking back from the bathroom or something.”

After Ariel Elias garnered online attention for a video of her handling a heckler during a standup set and chugging a beer that was thrown at her by an audience member, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is now looking to book the comedian for an appearance.
A spokesperson for ABC’s late-night program confirmed that the show is “in touch” with Elias and figuring out a date that would fit their schedules.
Elias faced down the situation during a show Saturday evening in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.. During a stretch of her set in which she opened the stage up for a Q&a with the audience, one attendee shouted “Did you vote for Donald Trump?”
“Here’s a question for you,” Elias responded. “Why would you ask me that in here knowing I’m the only Jew in this room? Are you trying to get me killed?”

Ariel Elias says she still hasn’t fully processed the incident at Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club Saturday night in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, a moment that’s since gone viral.
“I still haven’t cried, and I know I need to,” she said today on Gianmarco Soresi’s podcast The Downside.
“I think I’m feeling irritated at some of the attention,” continued Elias. Deadline revealed yesterday that, in addition to outlets like Rolling Stone and CNN reaching out, producers for Jimmy Kimmel Live! are looking to book the comedian.
The incident in question involved a seemingly drunk woman in the audience asking Elias who she voted for the the last election before insisting, “I can tell by your jokes that you voted for Biden.”
That led Elias to take (the verbal) gloves off.
“I can tell by the fact that you’re still talking when nobody wants you...

Stand-up comics have been targeted frequently onstage by out-of-control audience members in the months since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars. The latest incident came this weekend, when comedian Ariel Elias found herself quite literally under fire onstage in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
Elias was doing a Q&a with audience members as a part of her act when a woman in the audience asked, “Did you vote for Donald Trump?”
After trying to deflect, the comedian joked, “Why would you ask me that question when you know I’m the only Jew in the room? Are you trying to get me killed?”
The woman went back at her.
“I can tell by your jokes that you voted for Biden,” she said.
That led Elias to take (the verbal) gloves off.

A few unhinged members of a New Jersey comedy club audience must have gotten lost on their way to a Trump rally. Ariel Elias was in the middle of her stand-up set when a person in the crowd demanded to know if she voted for Trump and another threw a can of beer at her head.
Even before the heckling, “the set wasn’t going great,” Elias tells Rolling Stone of her time on stage at Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, on Saturday night. The...
