Along with The Mist and Dreamcatcher, Cycle of the Werewolf was one of my first introductions to Stephen King, so the Master of Horror's powerfully poignant prose in that novella—combined with the legendary Bernie Wrightson's amazing illustrations—will forever hold a special place in my horror-loving heart, and so too does its film adaptation: Dan Attias' Silver Bullet (which really captures the blood-soaked slice of small-town life in Tarker's Mills).
It's especially thrilling, then, that Scream Factory will be unleashing their Collector's Edition of Silver Bullet on 4K Uhd and Blu-ray just in time for the holiday season, and we have a look at the full list of bonus features fans can look forward to, including a new audio commentary with Eric Vespe and Scott Wampler of The Kingcast!

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Silver Scream Con returned to the Doubletree Boston North Shore in Danvers, Massachusetts on September 8-10 — ’cause let’s face it, baby, these days you gotta have a sequel!
Created by horror-inspired metalcore band Ice Nine Kills, Silver Scream Con has quickly established itself as a top-tier horror convention among celebrity guests and attendees alike. “Everybody’s been really nice, and I’m enjoying myself immensely,” said Tommy Lee Wallace, who created Michael Myers’ iconic mask for the original Halloween before going on to direct Halloween III: Season of the Witch. “I hope everyone gets the shit scared out of them!”
Not even severe thunderstorm alerts could stop the rabid fans, who traveled not just from all over North America but as far as Finland, Scotland, and England to attend. Ticket sales reportedly doubled from the previous year’s already-commendable showing,...

For those among us who are extremely and almost terminally online, the single production still from Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” that has been around for almost 12 months has caused quite a stir. See the familiar image below.
“Begging the team behind ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ to release just, like, One other still. Just one. For the love of Christ,” podcaster and journalist Scott Wampler tweeted recently to much engagement.
Well, on Thursday, “Killers of the Flower Moon” distributor Apple finally obliged the request. The studio, which will debut “Killers of the Flower Moon” this year, replied to Wampler’s plea with a trio of new production stills. As with the original photo of stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone, the pictures were released first by the independent news organization Osage News.

“The Matrix Resurrections” has finally screened for press, industry, and other lucky viewers, and first reactions to the sequel from director Lana Wachowski are pouring in. Kevin Sorbo claims he recently made “a scene in public” by refusing to put on a mask at a coffee shop. It isn’t clear if this actually happened, but it is true that Sorbo caused another scene… on Twitter.
Sorbo, who it must be said did not provide photographic or video evidence of the event, said on Tuesday that during a recent visit to Starbucks in Los Angeles, the staff asked him to put on a mask. That would be because Los Angeles County recently brought back indoor mask mandates as Covid-19 cases rise.
Here’s how the “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” actor described what happened next. “I’m not proud of this but i just made a scene in public for the first time in my life. I walked into Starbucks and they asked me to put a mask on. I yelled this is Bs. I turned around and walked out.

The long-anticipated trailer for the so-called Snyder cut of “Justice League” premiered on Sunday morning and with it came one of the most talked-about moments: an original conversation between Jared Leto’s Joker and Ben Affleck’s Batman, where Joker says: “We live in a society [long pause] where honor is a distant memory.”
If you spend any meaningful amount of time on the internet, you’ll know that particular line has been a meme for years — starting in the early 90’s with “Seinfeld” and carrying over to the message boards/Reddit. At a certain point a few years ago, it became associated with the Joker, as people would tweet or share it with a photo of the character — despite the fact that the character has never actually said the line out loud.
Until now.
We can’t help but assume that this bit is some kind of troll from director Zack Snyder...

Bethesda’s completely unexpected announcement earlier today has left folks reeling.
In case you missed it, the studio revealed via a short teaser video just hours ago that it’s partnering with the newly-established Lucasfilm Games in order to produce a project based on Indiana Jones. The affable treasure hunter, brought to life in the movie series of the same name by Harrison Ford, has become a cinematic icon for fans of action-adventure since the first effort, Raiders of the Lost Ark, landed in theaters back in 1981. Over the decades, three (soon to be four) sequels in the franchise have been released, with Bethesda’s own addition to the world also confirmed to feature a standalone story.
As for when it’ll be set (there’s plenty of unexplored territory), when it will release and for what platforms, those details are from confirmed, and given how early in the development process it clearly is,...

Rick Moranis was one of the biggest comedy stars of the 1980s and appeared in countless box office hits and cult classics like Ghostbusters, Brewster’s Millions, Little Shop of Horrors, Spaceballs, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Parenthood, but following the death of his wife in 1991, the actor started slowing down his output to look after his children, before eventually leaving the industry altogether.
The 67 year-old hasn’t appeared in a live-action movie since 1997’s Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, and in the 23 years since, his only feature film credits have been three animated efforts, two of which went straight to video. Many fans were crossing their fingers that he could be convinced to join the rest of the original cast in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but despite rumors that he might be involved, he’s said to have passed on the opportunity.

Film journalists, critics, directors, and more are showing support for writer-actress-filmmaker Amy Seimetz on social media after news surfaced she has an open restraining order against “Primer” and “Upstream Color” director Shane Carruth. Seimetz starred opposite Carruth in “Upstream Color” and the two had a relationship that ended in 2018. Seimetz filed for the restraining order against Carruth on June 12, citing years of emotional and physical abuse. One alleged incident that occurred at a hotel in 2016 found Carruth strangling Seimetz until it was hard for her to breathe.
Seimetz’s restraining order gained visibility on social media after Carruth tweeted an image of the “Upstream Color” soundtrack on vinyl with part of the restraining order document sticking out from underneath it. The photo’s timing has led many people in the film community to wonder if Carruth is trying to take attention away from the release of Seimetz’s acclaimed new film “She Dies Tomorrow,...

Cinestate is facing internal backlash after a recent report by The Daily Beast that details the independent Texas movie studio’s alleged complicity in several instances of sexual misconduct. Editors of two publications owned by the company, Birth.Movies.Death. and Fangoria, on Monday publicly shared a letter they have shared with their bosses demanding Cinestate take several measures in the realm of anti-harassment. They’re refusing to work until the company meets the demands. (The full letter is available below.)

There’s no middle ground when it comes to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and if you thought that the movie was controversial, wait until you read the novelization!
J.J. Abrams’ last entry in the Skywalker Saga and Disney’s Sequel Trilogy was supposed to amend the mistakes of the past and unite the divided fandom of the galaxy far, far away. Instead, most of the critics bashed the movie for its fan-service moments and use of nostalgic elements to provoke the viewers’ emotions. Among the fandom, though, The Last Jedi loyalists obviously hated the film since it backtracked from all the things Rian Johnson set up in the narrative. Other people, meanwhile, criticized The Rise of Skywalker for being too inconclusive or rushed, leaving much to be desired in terms of character developments and plot resolutions.
As such, all eyes were on the official novelization to shed...

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” was a huge disappointment among film critics, but the negative critical reception to the movie is nothing compared to the reaction greeting “Star Wars” in the wake of the film’s novelization. The upcoming “Rise of Skywalker” novel from writer Rae Carson will be available to own starting March 17, but copies of the book showed up at Chicago’s C2E2 convention last week. The novel includes controversial new information that answers questions left by J.J. Abrams’ “Rise of Skywalker” theatrical cut. The book has made headlines this week for revealing how Palpatine returned (he transferred his consciousness into a clone of himself) and confirming Rey and Kylo’s climactic kiss was not romantic. A new report from ScreenRant might contain the book’s most jaw-dropping and head-scratching revelation: Rey’s father was a failed clone of Palpatine.

The passing of famed “Blade Runner” actor Rutger Hauer has prompted an outpouring of tributes from filmmakers, actors, and fans on Twitter, honoring a career highlighted by one of the most famous monologues in sci-fi history.
Director Guillermo Del Toro praised Hauer as “an intense, deep, genuine and magnetic actor that brought truth, power and beauty to his films.” “Law and Order: Svu” star Ice-t reflected on the time he worked with Hauer on the action film “Surviving the Game,” while Kiss frontman Gene Simmons posted a picture of a VHS copy of “Wanted Dead or Alive,” in which the rock star played a terrorist being hunted down by a CIA agent played by Hauer.
Hauer’s “Blade Runner” co-star Daryl Hannah said in a statement to Fox News Wednesday, “I have a profound love and respect for Rutger Hauer. I am heartbroken to learn he has left us. He was unpredictable,...

Universal decided to stoke cat-scratch fever early and unleashed the first trailer for “Cats” upon an unexpecting public on Thursday instead of Friday. Was that a good idea? Who knows? But it just might be the weirdest darn movie musical ever. Maybe the weirdest movie ever, period.
Here is what your unbelieving eyes will see: Strangely humanoid felines that skitter across London cobble stones and leap through the city streets. They also pounce about in an ornately decorated home with chairs and utensils that are giant compared to the wee kitties on-screen.
SEEPut your life on paws and watch this featurette for ‘Cats’
A-list star bodies are made animal-like and adorned with weird skin-tight CGI fur as they walk about on two legs when they aren’t scampering. All the while Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella the Glamour Cat sob-sings “Memory” while the likes of Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Idris Elba,...

One of the big question marks on Paramount’s upcoming slate is “Gemini Man,” a science-fiction action movie starring Will Smith, Clive Owen, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Benedict Wong. Launching an original sci-fi property has proven risky at the box office as of late, and making matters more interesting is that Lee shot the film in 3D at 120 frames per second and 4k resolution. The filmmaker did the same thing with his previous movie, “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,” but the gamble of shooting at five times the normal frame rate (24fps) did not pay off as critics largely complained the footage was hyper-real and looked like a video game.
Heading into Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation, all eyes were on the studio to see whether or not Lee has refined the approach to 120fps filmmaking. There’s also the question of just how many theaters will even be able...

One hurdle Paramount Pictures had to clear during its CinemaCon presentation was the early backlash and skepticism facing its family tentpole “Sonic the Hedgehog.” The upcoming film adaptation of the widely popular Sega video game is putting an animated Sonic into the real world (similar to how Pokemon are being integrated into Warner Bros.’ “Detective Pikachu”), but first look posters have rubbed fans the wrong way due to Sonic’s hyper-real fur and new muscular physique.
“Paramount” tried to overcome the backlash by dropping the two teaser trailer at CinemaCon, one a traditional teaser introducing Sonic and another built entirely around Jim Carrey’s villain character and jokes that the movie is actually called “Robotnik.” The footage left journalists in attendance both hot and cold, with some intrigued to see more.

After striking out hard with critics and at the box office with “Terminator Genisys” in summer 2015, Paramount Pictures is resetting the beloved action franchise with the upcoming “Terminator: Dark Fate.” Original franchise director James Cameron is producing the movie and worked closely with filmmaker Tim Miller (“Deadpool”) to relaunch the franchise with “Dark Fate,” which will serve as a direct sequel to Cameron’s “The Terminator” and “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” Paramount used its CinemaCon presentation to launch the first trailer for “Dark Fate,” and it left a lasting impression on the press.
Appearing onstage, Miller said there are still months left of VFX work needed to complete the movie and therefore the footage screening at CinemaCon was not final. Paramount showed off two clips from the movie and a reel. The first clips prominently featured Mackenzie Davis, who is seen time traveling and landing in Mexico City and fighting police in the first one.

Paramount continued to build buzz for its Elton John biopic “Rocketman” at CinemaCon, where it showed off footage that sent press raving about Taron Egerton’s lead performance. The studio previously hosted a 20-minute look at the film for select press in Los Angeles last month, after which IndieWire’s Bill Desowitz reported the film was bound to become a “Bohemian Rhapsody”-sized hit. Considering all the rave reactions coming out of CinemaCon, Paramount must be feeling confident that “Rocketman” will be a major box office player this summer.
“Rocketman” screened extended footage from the Elton John biopic, similar to what the studio shared with press last month. The reaction from the press was perhaps the most enthusiastic of CinemaCon so far, with the footage being met with thunderous applause as director Dexter Fletcher and Egerton arrived on stage. Disney might have stumbled a bit at the box office with the release of Tim Burton’s “Dumbo,” but the studio has nothing to worry about when it comes to their remake of “The Lion King” opening in theaters this summer. Not only is “The Lion King” property one of the most beloved films in the Disney canon, but the new footage Disney showed at CinemaCon dazzled press so much that it’s clear the film is a visual effects game-changer that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible.
The footage for “The Lion King” showed the famous “everything the light touches” scene between Mufasa and Simba. Like the teaser trailer that debuted last year, the scene is essentially a shot-for-shot remake of Disney’s animated “The Lion King.” However, the effects blew nearly everyone in attendance away.

“Cats” only wrapped production on March 30, but that didn’t stop the upcoming film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical from making a first impression at CinemaCon during the Universal Pictures presentation. The studio unveiled some of the first footage from the Christmas tentpole, which is co-written and directed by “The King’s Speech” Oscar winner Tom Hooper. The filmmaker has experience with movie musicals, having directed Universal’s “Les Misérables,” which opened Christmas 2012 and earned $441 million worldwide and eight Oscar nominations. Universal is surely hoping “Cats” follows a similar path.

“It: Chapter Two” isn’t the only horror movie that’s going to make bank at the fall box office. Warner Bros. used its CinemaCon presentation to tout Mike Flanagan’s “Doctor Sleep,” based on the novel by Stephen King that serves as a sequel to the author’s iconic “The Shining.” The movie stars Ewan McGregor as an adult version of Danny Torrance, now an alcoholic whose attempt to get sober reawakens his “shining” powers. Torrance meets a young girl who shares the supernatural ability while working at a hospice center.
Warner Bros. showed off the first footage from the film, which included a look at a creepy campfire and Danny Torrance talking about how to deal with his “shine” problem decades after the events of “The Shining.” The footage included a title that said “Witness the Conclusion,” alluding to “Doctor Sleep” being the true ending to “The Shining” saga.

The first footage of Joaquin Phoenix’s “Joker” premiered during the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon and quickly set the film world ablaze on social media. The October tentpole stars Phoenix as the iconic Batman villain, who has previously been played on the big screen by Jack Nicholson, Jared Leto, and Heath Ledger. The latter won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his Joker performance in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.” Now comes Phoenix’s turn as the character, who in “Joker” is portrayed as a failed stand up comedian who gets seduced into Gotham’s criminal underworld in the early 1980s.

Just over a year since the mixed critical and audience reception for “Justice League,” fans of the Warner Bros.’ DC-verse are looking for James Wan’s “Aquaman” to get the series back on track. And based on the first round of social media reactions on Monday, their wish might be granted.
“Aquaman” received its first screening at a Warner Bros. press event Nov. 14, and critics and reporters who attended have been at high tide since the social media embargo lifted earlier Monday. Many are even hailing the film as equal to — or possibly better than — last year’s “Wonder Woman,” which was one of the top films of summer 2017 with $821 million grossed worldwide.
“‘Aquaman’ is the most ambitious DC film to date,” tweeted Fandango managing editor Erik Davis. “A big, sprawling visual spectacle that is gorgeous, crazy, stuffed with terrific action, and a lot of fun to watch. James Wan,...

You won’t see “Aquaman” reviews for some time, but the social-media levy has broken and the first wave of reactions has crashed online. Perhaps surprisingly, they’re almost all highly positive — James Wan’s entry in the Dceu has been called “an absolute blast,” “breathtakingly beautiful,” and “an undersea Star Wars” by those who’ve seen the superhero movie starring Jason Momoa.
Here are the first impressions:
Against all odds, I really dug #Aquaman, which offers thrills chills and a whole lotta adventure for the whole family! Also the president of the United States is a demonstrably evil racist and there appears to be nothing we can do about that! See it on the biggest screen possible

Terry Rossio, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of “Shrek,” “Aladdin” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, was lambasted on Twitter on Friday for using the n-word in a tweet.
In the tweet, Rossio said that calling people who are opposed to vaccinating their kids “anti-vax” is like calling someone the n-word.
“My heart goes out to all the parents of vaccine damaged children, who have to not only endure the sadness of their loss, but also the vitriol of ill-informed and insensitive people (such as those here). Anti-Vax is equivalent to calling someone a n—er and makes as little sense,” Rossio wrote. (He did not dash out the letters.)

Earlier this morning, Marvel nearly broke the internet when they dropped the very first trailer for Captain Marvel. Ever since EW’s big blowout of photos, plot details and more earlier this month, fans have beyond eager to see some footage from the upcoming release and let’s just say that what the studio gave us did not disappoint.
Though it was a bit on the short side, the preview was packed with intriguing teases of what’s to come while firmly establishing Carol Danvers as one of the McU’s most exciting characters – even from just the brief bit of footage we saw of her. Not only that, but there were also glimpses of a young Phil Coulson and Nick Fury, along with some hints at the titular hero’s wild powers and abilities.
All in all, it was a perfect first look at the film and now, the internet’s reacted.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced plans on Wednesday to shorten the Oscars telecast and create a new category devoted to popular films, eliciting immediate reaction from Twitter skeptics who derided the upcoming changes.
The changes are likely an attempt to boost sagging ratings for the Oscars, which hit a new low this past March after years of steady decline. The rules were adopted by the Academy’s Board of Governors at a meeting on Tuesday night and detailed in an email sent to Academy members on Wednesday morning.
The Academy announced that it would create a category designed to salute “outstanding achievement in popular film.” It has also pledged to keep the show to three hours, and will also hand out “select categories” during commercial breaks, and then edit those presentations to be shown later in the telecast.

Dakota Johnson made headlines this month for telling Elle that filming Luca Guadagnino’s “Suspiria” messed her up so much that it sent her to therapy, and it turns out viewers might have a similar experience while watching the horror film this fall. As IndieWire’s Jenna Marotta previously reported, Amazon showed the first footage from “Suspiria” during CinemaCon, and the insane reactions to the footage might just be better than the footage itself.
Guadagnino’s “Suspiria” is based on Dario Argento’s 1977 horror classic of the same name. The director is adamant his film is not a “remake” of Argento’s movie but an “homage to the incredible, powerful emotion” he felt when he watched it for the first time. Dakota Johnson, reuniting with Guadagnino after “A Bigger Splash,” plays an aspiring ballerina who begins classes at a prestigious dance academy and discovers something evil within the school.

Luca Guadagnino charmed audiences with “Call Me By Your Name” last winter. Now he wants to horrify them with his reboot of Dario Argento’s classic horror film “Suspiria.” And judging by the reaction a sneak peek of his film got at CinemaCon, he’ll fulfill that goal.
The film stars Dakota Johnson as Susie Bannion, an American dancer who joins an academy run by the austere Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton). But when she arrives, she soon uncovers some very dark secrets.
One of those dark secrets was shown to a full crowd in Las Vegas, as Madame Blanc guides Susie through a dance, telling her to stop if she feels ill. But possibly unbeknownst to Susie, there’s a girl in a doorless room surrounding by mirrors, getting thrown around and slammed into walls in time with her dancing.
With a jump by Susie, the girl is thrown end over end. With a swing of Susie’s arm, the girl’s arm is ripped out of its socket. Guadagnino’s camera zooms in on the bruises that give away the girl’s shattered ribs, the sound design amplifying every thump and breaking bone. By the end, the girl is left in a contorted heap, lying in her own saliva and urine.
“Dancing is dangerous,” quipped Amazon Studios distribution head Bob Berney to the disturbed gathering.
TheWrap’s Matt Donnelly described the film as “Black Swan meets The Exorcist in a 70s Berlin Marc Jacobs ad.” Other attendees of the presentation also reacted… strongly to the footage.
Ummm I am traumatized after seeing a scene from "Suspiria" in which Dakota Johnson controls the body of another woman as she dances. The woman's body literally cracks in half. She is like, torn apart. Spitting, urinating, bleeding. It's… A lot. #CinemaCon

Universal Pictures debuted the first trailer for David Gordon Green’s upcoming “Halloween” sequel at CinemaCon, and the debut footage did not disappoint when it comes to bloody horror. Jamie Lee Curtis returns to the franchise as Laurie Strode, the scream queen role that made her famous, and she was on hand at CinemaCon to debut the footage and tease the project.

Curtin went on to promise fans the sequel is “going to scare the living shit out of you.”
“This isn’t the piece of shit we made back in the 90s and I apologize for anyone who had to endure it,” she continued. “This movie is hella scary – and you guys please tweet that I said hella.

CinemaCon has officially rolled out the blood-red carpet for Michael Myers, and if the likes of Birth.Movies.Death and the Los Angeles Times are to be believed, David Gordon Green’s “terrifying” Halloween sequel enjoyed a big response at the convention.
Word is Blumhouse brought the first-look teaser for what is undoubtedly one of the biggest horror movies of 2018 – a bold claim, for sure, especially when you consider that Halloween shares the release calendar with Hereditary. But the fact that Green’s R-rated continuation is arriving a full 40 years after the John Carpenter classic means there’s an air of history and deep-seated horror legacy swirling around Michael Myers’ return.
And at least based on the following trailer reactions, it’s looking increasingly likely that Blumhouse and David Gordon Green are about to deliver the goods in the form of a “fucking awesome” trailer that’s designed to stir...
