In addition to Stephen King adaptation In the Tall Grass and the recent horror series Marianne, Netflix just dropped the trailer for a new psychological thriller starring Sam Worthington.
In Fractured, the Avatar actor plays Ray Monroe, an overwhelmed father still feeling the tension from a holiday weekend spent at his wife's parents' home. As he, his wife Joanne (Lily Rabe), and their young daughter Peri (Lucy Capri) make their way home, they pull over at a rest area and Peri ends up unexpectedly injured. This leads the Monroe family to a hospital nearby. Unfortunately not is all that it seems, since Joanne and Peri soon disappear within the hospital after going for some routine tests, with...

, Brad Anderson’s “Fractured” isn’t the first modern riff on “The Lady Vanishes” — not even close — but it’s one of the few that finds a compelling new backdrop for that Agatha Christie-esque tale of conspiracy and gaslighting. Whereas a film like “Flightplan” merely elevated Alfred Hitchcock’s locomotive mystery onto an airplane, “Fractured” sews the story into the knotted fabric of the American healthcare system, a curious wrinkle that helps to endow some (very) familiar beats with a fresh palette of anxieties.
“What if a random old woman disappeared on a train?” is now “what if someone’s wife and daughter were digested into the bowels of an understaffed hospital, any evidence of their existence hidden beneath the layers of payments, paperwork, and insurance legalese that drive people in this country to the brink of madness every day?” Alas, the script (by “Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever” scribe...

Avatar star Sam Worthington headlines Fractured, a Netflix movie with a mind-bending mystery.
Fractured is part of a slate of fall season horror (and horror-adjacent) film offerings from Netflix; in this case, a mystery movie brandishing a tinge of Twilight Zone-esque themes that question the reality of its embattled protagonist played by headliner Sam Worthington.
Indeed, the film found an appropriate helmer in The Machinist director Brad Anderson, providing a rather appropriate thematic juxtaposition to the morosely surreal 2004 thriller, as Worthington plays a man who, upon the disappearance of his wife and young daughter in a hospital emergency room, discovers that their existence has seemingly been erased from the memories and records of the staff.

"Why would I have my daughter's scarf, but not her?" Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for a mystery thriller titled Fractured, the latest from acclaimed American filmmaker Brad Anderson. Driving cross-country, Ray and his wife and daughter stop at a highway rest area where his daughter falls and breaks her arm. After a frantic rush to the hospital and a clash with the check-in nurse, Ray is finally able to get her to a doctor. While his wife and their daughter go downstairs for an Mri scan, Ray, exhausted, passes out in a chair in the lobby. Upon waking up, they have no record or knowledge of Ray's family ever being checked in. Where did they go? What happened to his family!? Sam Worthington stars, with Lily Rabe, Stephen Tobolowsky, Adjoa Andoh, Stephanie Sy, Lucy Capri, Lauren Cochrane, and Erik Athavale. Looks alright, I'm curious to find out what's up.
