Anthropologists and art historians have discovered that culturally, the human perception of color begins with three primary colors: black, white and red. These colors are the most basic to humans of all the colors, and all societies seem to recognize them and their symbolism, even if no other colors are recognized as important. Arguments are as varied as the theory that they are the colors of shadow, light and life (blood) Black: Power, sexuality, formality, elegance, wealth, mystery, fear, evil, unhappiness, depth, sadness, remorse, anger, anonymity, mourning, death, austerity, detachment. White: Reverence, purity, birth, simplicity, cleanliness, peace, humility, precision, innocence, youth, winter, snow, good, death (Eastern cultures), cold, clinical. Red: Excitement, energy, passion, love, desire, speed, strength, power, heat, aggression, danger, fire, blood, war, violence, all things intense and passionate.
