A phenomenal piece of work. Unbelievably good. Beautiful in every way imaginable, acting, cinematography, scripting, editing. As I watch (over and over), I am in awe of each of these elements of the film. The flow and transitions between scenes is impeccable. In what other family movie can you have one of your favorite characters die off, smile at the beauty of the scene, and transition right back into the story without missing a beat. This movie has it all. All the harshness of life, overcoming adversity, romance without so much as a kiss...
I must say that some of the supporting actors where too over the top for my liking, but by putting them in any scene with Megan Follows or Colleen Dewhurst all enjoyment is restored. That says so much about these two actresses. Add in Richard Farnsworth and you will never find a better lead cast... past, present or future. Megan Follows portrayal of Anne Shirely, from the side profile image of her face, to the delivery of the extreme fluctuations of emotions and dialog should go down as the #1 performance in history that will never be topped. Beautiful scenery... A perfect movie(10/10).
