The Mod Squad (1999)

Retro on the big screen, done good!
25 March 1999
Being the kind of guy who's into the 60's and 70's, despite not being alive for it all, I was looking forward to seeing this movie, especially when I learned of the cast. Overall, Ribisi was the one who stood out the more, though it seemed that it was tending to focus more toward Claire Danes. Ribisi played the comic relief of the movie, but it was done well, and not in that sort of forced way where the producers just know they have to have a comic relief, so they slap all this crap onto the character that just isn't as funny as they hoped. Epps was also a stand-out, as the coolest member of the group. One thing that I loved most about this movie, was the fact that it used some old camera techniques as well as music, to make it much more like the TV show, while still keeping it hip for the 90's.
