Not as bad as some might believe
13 October 2000
While this film isn't as worthy as such SNL skit turned films as Coneheads, The Blues Brothers or even the masterpiece Wayne's World, it is much better than the crappy SNL movies that have recently been released (Superstar and A Night at the Roxbury are good examples). Also, it has some very funny moments, thanks to It's star (Tim Meadows) who plays the wacky Leon Phelps. It might've not worked, but luckily, the skit on SNL was so good (one of the better ones that have been on besides Celebrity Jeopardy) that the movie doesn't degrade it too much, just to the length Lorne Michaels can.

Plot follows Phelps as a radio show host who gets fired after using some dirty language (take your lover by the hand and put it in the b*tt). So, he starts to look for new jobs (the interviews are the funniest part) but finds that he might want to not be the ladies man anymore, but just the man. Overall, the film turns out ok and even sporadically hilarious, and gets in the middle of the SNL film list, just as long as you don't take it too serious (of course) and don't expect Wayne's World 3.
