Christopher Walken's wonderfully goofy "Continental" skits on SNL are based on this 1952 TV series of the same name. The show was designed for girls who didn't have dates on Saturday Night and used subjective camera work to suggest that the suave gent on your TV was romancing the viewer. It was a near instant flop because it asked viewers to basically confirm their loserhood by turning it on.
