Hilary Duff stars in this Disney Channel movie about a girl that is sent to cadet school. Hilary is a one girl revolution as she eventually asserts her individuality in constructive ways, while respecting the institution. Christy Carlson Romano is the drill queen, who makes poor Hilary's life hell when she first arrives. As a television movie, it's fairly average in construction with the standard complications and ensuing lessons learned. What isn't standard in a movie like this is to have a charming, sweet girl playing the lead role. Hilary Duff makes the script seem better than it is at times. She smiles a lot and has plenty of lines that she makes funnier by her presence and delivery. Gary Cole is a little stiff as her military school stepfather. This is a fun movie to pass the time away, if you don't expect too much. Hopefully, Hilary will move on to more challenging teen fare in her coming movies. **1/2 of 4 stars.
