An utterly compelling film with an incredible script, brilliant acting and achingly beautiful cinematography. Leleti Khumalo is mind-blowing in the title role with Harriet Lenabe (Hotel Rwanda)and Kenneth Khambula ably supporting her. Darrell Roodt has created a true South African classic which should be compulsory viewing for everyone. The script is wonderful with a few touches South Africans will absolutely adore, such as the discussion on the "Lotto". Leleti Khumalo's "Yesterday" is a true heroine, her bravery in the face of certain death and her commitment to her ailing husband is truly inspiring and if this does not win an Oscar there is truly no justice.
