Review of Gigli

Gigli (2003)
3/10
Not as bad as I thought , but I can see why many critics hated it.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie has the hopes of being a good film, if it wasn't for a very poorly written script (and J.Lo is in it too; I liked her when she was just Jennifer Lopez).

Anyway, the main plot of the story is a good one. It is all the extra crap that they throw into it that makes it a very boring and sucky film to enjoy. There is lots of pointless dialogue that has nothing to do with anything. Most of it comes from J. Lo's mouth, so I guess they gave the dialogue to the right person. It's a shame the Christopher Walkin got to spew out some of that terrible dialogue as well. I'm a big fan of his, but I have to say that his role in this movie served no real purpose at all.

Ben Affleck is a good actor and I am a fan of many of his films. I just don't think that he is a very good character actor. His New Yorker accent (or whatever the hell he's supposed to be) seems forced. He had some pretty decent lines in the film though.

Al Pacino was the man. His role was the best one in this film. At least his role served a real purpose. SPOILER!!!I found myself glad when he shot Gigli's boss. I'm surprised nobody else had shot that character earlier in the film. He was completely obnoxious and the actor who played the character sucked at playing it.

So there you have it. That's what I think of the movie. Martin Breast is a lousey screenwriter, but then again I couldn't do any better. I guess there's hope for me if I ever decide to write a screenplay.
