I rented suicide club based on a recommendation of a friend. I watched it but I just couldn't understand the message, I think this is because I am an American. The messages I did get were confusing I just couldn't understand the idea behind the plot which made the movie fairly painful to watched. There are scenes which were very, perhaps, artistic is the word, that I really thought were better left out of the final cut of the movie due to confusion. I asked my friend who said that at the time of recommendation he had just come back from Japan and watched it at a party. I like to think that this might have worked for a Japanese audience but it simply didn't translate well into themes and ideas that I could understand.
