The Omen (2006)

Truly amazing film. Did it live up to the spirit of the original blah-blah-blah? No. Moore created new atmosphere, which feels surprisingly fresh. It is not like I am trashing the original. I respect it and people involved, but the fact is the remake is more exciting and well paced. It also has exceptional cinematography and art direction. I applaud everyone who worked on the technical side of the movie.

Talking about the cast, what's the big deal about Julia Styles? Hate towards her reminds me of Michael Bay situation that I can't understand also. Anyway, all the actors are solid. Esp, David Tewlis and Mia Farrow.

And no, it is not a shot-by-shot remake. The concept is, the director shot a certain scene as if he was told: "Here you'll have Kate Torn knocked down by Damien and falling" or "Here you'll have the photographer being decapitated". It feels like Moore didn't watch the original (he saw it, of course) and that kind of approach I just dig.

Overall, the movie exceeded my expectations and goes #1 on my "favourite movies of 2006" list. 10/10
