Yesterday (I) (2004)
8/10
A strong, powerful but oftentimes one dimensional film about HIV and AIDS in Africa
21 October 2006
I found yesterday to be a very profound movie. It teaches the pain of having HIV in Africa through a young married woman, yesterday. She has a husband and a daughter, Beauty and learns she has HIV. She is devastated by this and goes through perils that no person should go through. The movie speaks out to you making you believe you are there in South Africa. The film made me want to do everything I could do to help fight AIDS. It is a very sad film and a very powerful one. My only discrepancy is in the style the director choose. The movie is very simple and only follows the life of Yesterday. The movie often feels one dimensional and boring. But the acting is so well done and the movie has so much depth that I strongly recommend it.
