Another Woman's Husband (2000 TV Movie)
8/10
"Superlative" male lead
22 October 2006
You can love or hate a movie, or character, but it's difficult to proclaim any given story, performance, actor, director, etc., the best or worst, your most or least favored, ever, etc. Superlatives are only correctly used for one of anything - and if you discover one anew, it must surpass all others if it is truly a superlative.

Well, honestly, I have several after watching this picture - and all with regard to the Midkiff character Johnny/Jake.

Hands down, he's the MOST unsympathetic, dull, insipid, uncharismatic character I've EVER viewed.

He evokes the LEAST amount of empathy or trace of caring in any regard for what happens to him, or for the trials he might endure as a result of his duplicity. There is no way a character could be more annoying.

The two female leads are both engaging, sympathetic (for the most part), and certainly a pleasure to view. They were both screwed-up in their own ways, but who in this movie genre isn't? And the conclusion brought proper resolution.

(Whenever I watch a film with a character very annoying, like Midkiff's here, I wish the director would have hired an actor resembling Moe from the Three Stooges - and that "Moe" would proceed to bash him with a mallet, poke him in the eyes, and give him hard slaps, the way he would to Curly and Larry.)
