A different role for Jolie compared to Lara Croft
11 November 2006
Another wifey Africa movie, and unfortunately, pretty much along the same lines The movie focuses on Sarah (Jolie), a British woman who becomes aware of the dire situation in Ethiopia after an aid worker Nick (Owen), storms a charity event. Sarah feels compelled to go and assist the work, and is horrified over the desperation of the situation. She also struggles to understand Nick's way of working and his overwhelming abrasiveness. After a short trip Sarah returns to the UK and continues her work by joining the UN. Several more trips to other countries follow, resulting in more horror and heartbreak.

Challenging at times, but unfortunately there's nothing new in this movie we haven't seen in the genre. If you are passionate about the plight of the Africans, hire "Hotel Rwanda", a true story backed up by an excellent script and cast.
