Review of The Pool

The Pool (2001)
2/10
So bad that it gets fun
17 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A group of wealthy cool teenagers are having a wild party in a big mansion (which has a huge swimming pool so that the actors spend half of the movie in their under wears) when "suddenly", a masked killer starts killing them off one by one. They realize that are trapped in the house and that one of them is trying to kill them all. Of course, they start blaming each other, there are "false" clues, until the "unexpected" ending "surprises" us. Yes, I'm overusing the inverted commas.

Please, detect at least five clichés in less than one minute.

To begin with, the actors are just terrible. They have the level of a school drama group. Some of them have problems with their English (it's a German movie) and they get really pathetic. Besides, the characters have no personality at all, so by the time we get to know who the killer is, it is absolutely irrelevant as it could have been anyone.

The killings are mediocre. The characters make the most stupid decisions such as scream like idiots waiting for the killer to stab them or try to open locked doors instead of running. The only one minimally original was the one of the girl in the water slide.

However, the movie was so appalling that it became one of those "bad but fun" movies and that's why give it a 2. But if you expect a really good movie, stay away from this one.
