Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (1985–1986)
10/10
One of the all-time best animes

Warning: Spoilers
Zeta Gundam is by far one of the best Mecha shows ever. It has all the requisites of a good mecha. It has amazing battle scenes, superb character development, and a clear distinction between the heroes and the villains with us being totally against the Titans (with the exception of a few Titan pilots like Four Murasme and Rosamia Badam) and cheering the heroes, like Kamille (something that the original gundam lacked, with me feeling sorry for the Zeon soldiers, like Ramba Ral). Most of the characters in the original (with the exception of Char and Bright Noah who are main characters in the AEUG, and Katx who is an AEUG soldier) Gundam make cameo appearances here.

On the down side, the show starts a little poorly (although I was a fan of the original Gundam, and looked forward a lot to Z Gundam, I almost stopped watching it because of the first couple of episodes), the later episodes are some of the best mecha episodes that I have ever watched. The opening music was also very good, but the ending theme could have been a little better. The animation is also a little old, and it could do with a little restoration.

On the whole, I would say that the show is one of the best anime ever made. Heroes from Zeta Gundam like Quattro Bageena (a.k.a. Char Aznable from the original Gundam series), Kamille Bidan, Emma Sheen, as well as villains like Jerid Messa, Paptimus Scirocco, and Haman Karn are some of the best anime characters ever developed.
