..couldn't get into it..

Warning: Spoilers
I really tried, but I didn't find the vile evilness required in Susan Peter's ("Leah St. Aubyn") character. Seems like she only raised her voice once in the entire film, and I had problems understanding what she was saying. AND - the score was so loud between every scene, with the sea pounding on the cliffs below, I had to keep turning the volume up and down.

I knew that Ms. Peters was in misery in real-life, and hoped she'd use the pain to really be nasty. Instead, she was sugary sweet, with only rotten comments to all of the characters she wanted to hurt, I suppose to cause pyschologic pain....kinda weak. Considering she won an Oscar for her role in "Random Harvest" (with queen-of-Hollywood, Greer Garson), I had hoped her career would blossom. She died very young....

Peggy Ann Warner began a good career in "The Sign of the Ram", but I really don't recall any particular movie that made it big. I was also put-off the family-name was "St. Aubyn", not very English. The only other role that impressed me was the fabulous Dame Mae Witty (only Emglish accent in the whole film) - anyone remember her ? So, the rest of the cast were just putting in their time to make Ms. Peters shine, but it didn't work for me. Several users wished they could find "their favorite movie" on VHS or DVD.....hope they find it, but I won't be looking......
