Ghost Town (I) (2008)
7/10
A badly sewn up series of hilarious scenes
2 May 2009
As good as it gets, is a good analogy to this film, except maybe 'As cheesy as it gets' would be more appropriate. Ghost Town has a predictable story line and yet, you don't want to miss a minute of it. The simple reason is that Ricky Gervais is in almost all the scenes. The guy is pure genius in comedy. You wonder whether the film was made around him or was he the cherry on a stale cake? Those who have followed Ricky's TV career and stand ups will see his hand in the writings. His wit and dryness is shown throughout the film.

Tea Leoni is gorgeous as ever but the main attraction is strangely the fat bloke next to her, and I'm a straight guy! No doubt, you will see more accomplished comedies with better plots. But it is always refreshing to see that there are other comedy styles different to the already confirmed stars with the likes of Jack Black, Will Ferrel and so on.

It is certainly worth the watch.
