Relentlessly interesting look at World War II.

Some things fiction writers can't create, they can only come from a writer who utilizes first-hand experiences. This look at the Fall of Berlin focuses not on Hitler or his bunker but instead on the civilian population of Berlin -- specifically the women and how they become the spoils of war.

Nina Hoss is just perfect in the leading role. Her physical appearance will remind many of us of Janet Leigh at age 40. But all the players craft excellent portrayals, and absolutely none of the story is predictable.

I found this to be the most original and interesting film since "Slumdog Millionaire." I had to drive clear across town to see it at the Avalon Theatre; a 7-day exclusive run; well worth the effort.
