Great action, choppy storytelling

Warning: Spoilers
If you want to watch this movie for character development and a solid story then you will be disappointed.

I think the movie is meant to serve as a companion piece to the Superman/Batman comics and it requires a solid bit of knowledge about the DC universe. There are a ton of characters that are thrown in and the movie just expects you to know who they are.

For instance, early on Supergirl befriends an amazon that can see into the future or something, but we see shots of Supergirl viewing the future in some yellow orb thing when the amazon isn't in the scene at all. The movie never really makes it clear if the amazon is behind that or not, and after she dies we see the orb once more.

We're also supposed to feel bad when the amazon dies since she apparently has a deep friendship with Supergirl, but the Amazon barely gets any screen time and there is very little that shows her having much of a friendship with Supergirl. She could have been completely written out of the story and the movie would have been better off.

The movie also is a Superman and Batman movie in name only. Batman is in it, and he does have a few cool moments, but he's more of a background character than anything. Wonder Woman has about as much screen time as him. The movie is really a Superman and Supergirl movie, which is fine, but the title led me to believe we'd see a movie like Superman/Batman Public Enemies.

That said, the action is fantastic. Every fight scene in the movie is fluid and incredibly inventive, especially the final fight of the movie. If you just want to see super heroes having huge epic battles, then this is the movie for you.

So in summary, watch it if just want to see really great action, but skip it if you want a coherent narrative.
