Enjoyable but definitely second-rate...

Warning: Spoilers
This film is like making a romantic screwball comedy starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne (such as "The Awful Truth" or "My Favorite Wife") on a shoestring budget. First, you need to replace these wonderful actors with mostly unknowns or second-tier stars (like Anna Nagel). Then you need to have a low-rent writer make up a script FAST--even if it didn't always make sense. The effort is watchable and occasionally engaging--but far from satisfying.

The film begins with a spoiled, stupid and obnoxious society lady fretting at her wedding. After all, her groom is a no-show! So she does what only someone in a film might do--marries another guy spur of the moment. Her lawyer is now her husband and this poses some problems, as the lawyer actually secretly loves her BUT she has no interest in anything but a show marriage until her old fiancé returns to apologize and marry her.

During their sham honeymoon, slowly something strange happens. The new husband turns out to be the favorite of all the ladies and the fiancé turns out to be a drip. Over time, the wife starts to realize that maybe staying married isn't such a bad idea after all.

The film has some nice moments---even if the plot really makes no sense. And, unfortunately, there are also a few moments that made me cringe (such as Nagel's tantrum near the end). The overall effort is enjoyable but nothing more than a low-budget time-passer.
