The tooth fairy killer
31 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
After a prostitute is found dead, Dexter who came to the scene, notices the woman has a front tooth missing. The incident triggers something in his mind, which is confirmed as he looks in the scrap book about serial killers he has kept through the years. If he is right, this murder was committed by a criminal that was named 'The Tooth Fairy" by his m.o., but if his calculations are correct, the man should be a senior citizen by now.

Things at the police headquarters are a bit tough for Debra, who must hold her first staff meeting as the lieutenant in charge of things. Maria is clearly trying to interfere with Debra's job. Appearing to be helpful, she is nothing but a woman that resents Debra's promotion. At the meeting everything goes wrong, with even Quinn being not too helpful in supporting Debra.

Dexter gets lucky at one of the senior centers in his area in locating whom he is almost sure is the serial killer he is looking for. By deduction, he has figured Walter Kenney is his man. Pretending to be checking the premises, he gets closer to Walter, a crabby old man, who does not have a partner for a round of golf. Dexter is hoping to discover whether the old fellow is whom he thinks it is.

Meanwhile, back in the church area, Travis has been checking on his prisoner, the man he attacked in the park, now being held at a room of the strange place. Travis comes to see if the stranger shows signs of repentance. The poor man has no idea where he is, much less what it is expected of him and what Gellar and Travis have in store for him. Managing to loosen his hand restrains, he is surprised by a stallion that kicks him down as his captors arrive to the scene.

Getting to know more of Walter, makes Dexter cater to the man. He is almost sure this man is the serial killer. When Kenney asks him to take him to a storage facility, Dexter hits the bingo! Now he can really check what is being kept inside, hoping to know if the old man is whom he thinks he is. Little does Dexter realize Walter Kenney wants to turn the tables around, for the senior citizen has figured out about his true identity as well.

Many Coto, long involved with the series, wrote today's installment. Stefan Schwartz, a man that has worked a lot on television was the director. The episode touches lightly on the religious-like figures of Travis and Gellar, who are the season's guests stars, but nothing is clear as to what they are really after. The other guest star, Mos Def has nothing to do in today's chapter. Ronny Cox appears as Walter Kenney.
