Yash Chopra pre DDLJ and post DARR made yet another hit romantic film The film starred Akshay and Saif both who were strugglers, surprising Akshay was known for his action roles(perhaps action scenes more) but Yash Chopra decided to cast him in a serious romantic role while Saif can still play a casanova in his sleep, Kajol too was slowly gathering name for herself and the film did help her. The film is a remake of SABRINA(1954) and the story was repeated few years later in DILLAGi(1999) and several more films. The film is well handled by Naresh Malhotra who recently made Dil Ka Rishta. The film has ample drama, music, emotions and romance. An unpredictable(for it's time) climax and alls well that ends well
Direction by Naresh Malhotra is good Music was a big hit by Dilip and Sameer Sen, Dekho Zara Dekho, Naam Kya Hai, Hoton pe Bas, Lagi Lagi and of course Jab Bhi Koi Ladki All songs are picturised excellently
Akshay Kumar does a good job in the sober role for a change and it won him tremendous acclaim, though he was raw in emotional stuff yet he played his role well Saif too is a natural as the casanova which became second skin for him and does well Kajol is superb in her role and looks beautiful, surprisingly people don't notice her cleavage showing clothes which they did notice for B Grade actresses Amongst rest Reema Lagoo excels, Saeed Jaffrey is as usual Deven Verma is good as usual
