The Office (2005–2013)
10/10
Hilarious, Ground-Breaking, Almost a Masterpiece.

I am a huge Steve Carrel fan, however my towering dislike for creator and original lead actor Ricky Gervais made me a bit skeptical at the beginning. Very quickly however, the show proved itself to be a very well written, humorous, witty, subtle TV comedy show. More than that, though, it was ground breaking. I smile upon this show rather than the original British version because this version has more multidimensional characters, who change throughout the show, and each character has their own story arch that has been tailored specifically for them. The story is very good, the humor is subtle, and very original. It has many twists and turns, good lessons, and it feels real. Definitely one of the best American sitcoms to come out in a long time. Unfortunately after Greg Daniels left as a writer/developer around season five the show went downhill slightly, but the show really hit rock bottom in season eight after lead actor Steve Carrel left the show to pursue a film-based career. However on an up note the pilot episode of season nine was very similar to the original seasons. If it wasn't for season 8 it would be nearly a masterpiece. Well-made, hilarious fun for all ages. But I have to conclude by saying we miss you Steve Carrel, The Office isn't the same without you.
