A love letter to SRK fans and then some. Fun and engaging in every way.

Of course being an SRK fan, a huge fan, i had to see Chennai Express which i have been enthusiastically awaiting since first hearing of it. And let me just say what a great ode to SRK's past films it was. Those references add fantastic nostalgic humor to the already good humor of this fun filled adventure. A hilarious journey about a man unwillingly dragged along for the adventure of his lifetime. And what an adventure it was. Perhaps not the best SRK film and perhaps not the best film of the year, still it is entertaining and that is what counts.

Let us just get this out of the way, this is not award season cinema. This film however is pure through and through entertainment for everyone in the family whether they be SRK fans, comedy lovers, adventure enthusiasts, wholesome family entertainment lovers, crazy stunts and action buffs or drama and emotion aficionados. Throw in some pretty wholesome life messages and a fun filled musical journey and you get Chennai Express.

As expected with Bollywood, you get color, loads of color. Colorful costumes, colorful backdrops, colorful personalities. In addition to great scenic views and a cultural journey through the beautiful south of India. I love that this film depicted culture of the south, traditions, architecture and wonder. Breathtaking in all cinematographic aspects.

The music is fun and pumping though few in number. I love Titli and the title song most but the wonderfully choreographed 1234 get on the dance floor is absolutely energy packed. The score is excellent and adds to the amazing dramatic value. See the last scene.

Good comedic performance with touches of great drama from the evergreen and ever awesome SRK. Deepika was was superb and a sensation to behold. The supporting cast was just as amazing. Add to this the great sensational chemistry between the two leads and you get everything you wanted in a blockbuster. Though the humor does get trying and forced at times.

The romance is fun but feels rushed.

Props to Mr Shetty for a wonderfully well directed film that was the perfect entertainer.

What truly makes a great film experience in my opinion is a movie that elicits a wide range of emotions and never leaves you bored even for a single second. This film did just that for me. I smiled through the entire film, laughed my heart out and even shed tears. It really is one of those films that will have you at the edge of your seat, make you laugh, make you cry and perhaps even make you fall in love. :D I never noticed the time fly. A fun adventure that really has heart and speaks about a lot of important life lessons for those who paid attention. It is not a mindless masala action flick but it certainly is masala.
