Man of Steel (2013)
7/10
I found Man of Steel to be very interesting

Okay going into this I am not the biggest Superman fan, and found Superman Returns to be a bit of a boring film. I do respect that they were trying to capture the classic essence of the original films, but it was not my cup of tea. However going into this I wasn't sure what to expect, but I think overall it turned out pretty well.

First off the build up and story is done fantastic, I love the way that krypton looks in the beginning, and I think Russel Crowe did a great Jor-El. I didn't really care for the character of Lois Lane as Amy Adams portrayed her, the effects in the film were amazing, and do a good job of moving fast whilst still showing all the detail (so you can actually see what is going on).

The villain of General Zod is great, and I think he definitely steals scenes he is in. perhaps there are some parts that don't make sense to me (such as not saving his father in the tornado scene), but not everything can be perfect. In some ways I feel like this movie felt like a Dragon Ball Z cartoon brought to life, because the way the fight scenes are done is nearly identical.

My only gripe is that Superman seems to have no disregard for damaging property or people. He tends to fly through and destroy many, many buildings while fighting. That is not the way the character is portrayed, he rips building after building apart, and you don't see any qualms about who may be alive in there.

Overall I give it a 7/10 because it renewed my faith in the character, especially for film, it had great effects, and good pacing, and is a character that needed some changes in my eyes to be a bit more modern for today's audiences.
