Review of Betrayal

Betrayal (2013–2014)
5/10
.. doesn't-improve second-viewing ... revising-review
2 July 2014
... first off ... there's no reason necessary to subject viewers through so many episodes of this 'story-of-an-affair' ... one making little sense to begin with yet has everything else revolving around it ... two-long-married-couples ... near identical in numerous ways (including-appearance) ... that's the basis for everything meaningful in this story-plot

... then besides a weak script there are poor-performances.. not just a couple ... notably from one of the four-leads ... watching it again (fast-forwarding) nothing changes ... one reviewer mentioned it was based on the Dutch series (Overspel) made a couple years earlier & having a much more satisfying production ... think gonna have to look that one up ... it's gotta be better than this

... what this story never really pulls off very well is why the two of them really needed to cheat on their respective spouses ... sure she' a good deal younger (arguably-more-attractive) & w/o the baggage of a crime family hanging over her but is that why they blow up their families' lives ... if it is it's exceptionally weak-shallow ... & like to know how do they find all the free time to conduct what appears to be multiple time consuming trysts

... & for a story based on intense-passion there's relatively little chemistry between these two adulterers ... one film-critic saying it best "Ware is lovely, but Sara is nothing more than a dress-up doll ... utterly unbelievable as photographer, mother or wife & certainly unbelievable as a woman carried away by passion ... she & Townsend's lack of chemistry threatens to form antimatter every time they look at each other." ... little wonder S2 never-came-about.
