Review of The Rover

The Rover (2014)
5/10
Post-appocalyptic crap.
1 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The stars are for the performances. The lack of stars is because this is a 90-minute romp through the insanity that we have seen so many times before in the post-apocalyptic stories directly derived, ripped and reprocessed from Mad Max, The Road, The Postman, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

Guy Pierce is phenomenally stoic and doesn't even bother to swat the flies from his face and nose indicating either a complete immersion in his character or way more physical talent than I thought possible. Robert Pattinson is very watchable and intriguing in his portrayal of an autistic(?) savant who has these extreme moments of cunning or clarity that belie the half-wit persona.

Overall a boring movie with an ending that is somewhat predictable, in that we knew there was something in the car he wanted very badly.
