Warning: Spoilers
It looks like this movie splits people into camps. Some hate it, either annoyed at the clichés of capitalism, or missing the subtext. Others love it, over-enamoured with the neat exposition of current meta-programming principles? OK, that last bit i put words in other people's mouths. that's bad. go read the other reviews, they speak better for themselves than i can.

my take was that it was OK. i was quite grateful for the final 10 seconds or so: the director neatly picks out the sequences of images/stimuli in the conditioning/programming of the protagonist, and his subsequent breakdown. So, unlike a kubric movie, the symbolism is made overt. Thanks for that. it was quite helpful.

the movie was more a demonstration with practical example of media manipulation of populations, according to the illuminati agenda (as depicted by the projection of the all seeing eye/pyramid on the protagonist's face at the beginning). We get to watch how the guy's outlook on life and events is driven by the media generated program(ming). (Whether there is a deeper spiritual aspect intended there i do not know) . Step by step, stage by satge, we see the programming of the protagonist to become paranoid, stressed, and ultimately, to move to assault with a deadly weapon.

Probably the best next step for the viewer is to think over recent headline news. What are they programming YOU to do?

personal growth aside, sometimes the sound track was too jarring. i'm not sure how reversed clips of birth fitted in. the guy certainly wasn't being reborn - unless it was reborn as a killer. so why backwards? I really really liked the focus changes, the camera 'blinks'. they fitted nicely and there were times i was unsure if i had blinked or the film had... if the purpose of that was mere effect, then it was great. if it was, like the plot of the movie, to further educate us in the mechanisms of control, then bravo.
