Good Movie - Especially for Low Budget

Warning: Spoilers
I agree with what Joshua Jackson said in his review. I was actually very skeptical of even watching this. I am huge Tomb Raider fan and thought this would be really bad, but it was a lot better than I was expecting. Low budget, but Joshua nailed it with what he said about acting, choreography, even the dialog was decent. The music actually fit with the movie and Tomb Raider. Since Joshua filled in all that, I will compare the movie to the game.

Spoiler Alert: In the original 1996 game (if you read the story insert from the game manual) and the comic series, they both said what happened to Lara's parents and both stories lined up. Once Crystal Dynamics took over with creating the games starting with Legend, the games story changed quite a bit, along with the movies with Angelina Jolie. This movie was fairly close though.

The original story was that her and her parents, along with her butler Winston, were on their personal plane when the engine blew or fuselage ripped. There wasn't enough time to get everyone off, or not enough parachutes (I forgot) and Winston saved Lara's life by jumping off with her. While her parents crashed in the plane and died. Lara was a lot younger in the original story too, I think about 8 – 12 years old and then Winston raised her.

This movie does show that her mom crashed in the plane and died, but her dad and Winston the butler was not with them. In the movie she was basically an adult when it happened, instead of being a child yet.

In the Last Revelations game, the fourth Tomb Raider game in 1999, we are introduced to Professor Werner Von Croy. Lara Croft Studied with him when she was 16. This was a cool tidbit in the movie, as the end of it she was going to Mexico to see him. However, in the game he ends up betraying her over some artifact that will give him power, he then tries to kill her.

Is the movie worth watching, yes. I wish there was a more of a budget for it, but it did fit the game more closely than the other movies have so far. I wouldn't mind these guys working with the big budget people to create more of a story that fits with the original game. Supposedly a new Tomb Raider movie is being made, they just can't figure out who is playing Lara Croft.
