At the very least, it can be said that Americathon is a labor of love, turning decent comic professionalism to the holy cause channeling the incomparable humor of Peter Bergman!
And I don't use the word "incomparable" lightly. Bergman (RIP) was a rare and gifted man. Read up on him on Wikipedia... and Firesign heads already know what I'm talking about.
Sure, it's cheezy. But it's self aware in its cheese. The film knows what it wants, and it exerts itself mightily to get it. For the life of me, I can't think why it gets such low marks on IMDb: It's worth at least a 7, for its "period" value, if nothing else.
Check it out.
