Waking the Dead: Final Cut: Part 1 (2003)
Season 3, Episode 7
7/10
A dark and sinister property, with a body in the bin
6 August 2015
This starts in an unusually happy tone, all the main cast share some laughs and jokes, and enjoy the promotion to Sergeant of Mel Silver. Her promotion seems to cast a dark shadow over Spencer. It all turns dark when a body is found thrown out with the rubbish, the team are drawn to a house, which is particularly dark and nasty, the comparisons ring true between Franky's quote 'it's like 10 Rillington Place.'

Property developer Mr Meerman, is a particularly unpleasant character, played very well by Richard McCabe.

As is often the case with the show, It's again a very dark story, with elements of old West Indian culture.

Not only is the story dark, but the filming and picture are overly dark, don't adjust your sets. It does take a little while for this story to develop, it is very good, not excellent. Definitely a strong story for Spencer, where we see his mum, learn more about his family history, relationship with his dad etc. It takes almost the full hour for us to see the brilliant Maurice Roeves.

7/10.
