Cheap and cheesy Casper copy

Warning: Spoilers
LITTLE GHOST is a cheap fantasy comedy, financed in America and shot in Romania. It's an often inept and laughable little film but nonetheless one which still raises a wry smile or two thanks to the sheer low budget effort that's gone into the film's making. It feels very much like a spin on CASPER albeit made on about a zillionth of the budget. I was amused to note that Full Moon Entertainment served as one of the production companies involved in this mess.

The story is about a kid and his mother, who works as an actress and randomly decides to buy an old castle in Romania and move the family there. The family is also saddled with the mother's fiancé, a greasy Rob Lowe lookalike who as the movie's villain is the butt of many of the jokes. The lonely kid soon strikes up a friendship with an old-time ghost girl who agrees to help him reveal the truth to his mother about the machinations of the evil fiancé. However this takes a long time and incorporates fake seances and the like.

Some of the slapstick gags are mildly amusing while others are fairly stupid. The special effects are limited to levitating objects and the occasion scene of the ghost girl dissolving into random pixels. It's badly acted throughout and made with the minimum of talent, but it's far from the worst kid's film you'll watch. I was amused to note that some of the main cast in this never worked again after its release.
