David Blaine: Beyond Magic (2016 TV Movie)
4/10
More of the same from Blaine

Warning: Spoilers
"David Blaine: Beyond Magic" is a 1-hour (celebrity) television special (42 minutes without commercial) from November 2016, so this one is still really fresh and new. If you know Blaine's approach to magic, you can already guess what to expect here. It is his usual magic routine, some card tricks and some other stuff that usually lives through the sensational shock aspects rather than really pure magic. To make this even more memorable, he got a handful of stars in here that you can see in the cast list. Stone and Travolta sadly do not have that much screen time, only one scene basically, as they were the ones I cared for the most. Beckham gets a lot and so does Robbie. Oh yeah and apart from finding out about personal memories from the stars, Blaine also performs a new version of his bullet trick, his trademark perhaps. I never liked that one. Anyway, occasionally, this one felt slightly scripted to me in terms of how the stars reacted or other aspects too. Blaine is not one of my favorite magicians, but I still think this one is a good watch to everybody who likes him more than I do. I give it a thumbs-down though.
