'The United States vs. Richard Nixon' hits on one of the most bitter pills in our (somewhat) recent history, but it also makes for riveting television. This episode's stroke of genius is letting the Watergate scandal play out using archival news footage, and really puts you in the front row during all of this. I've know about the scandal since grade school, but it's another thing entirely to see it unfold like this. What makes it a genuine tragedy (aside from sowing the seeds of mistrust in the American people) is that he was loved. His presidency had the makings of a great one, but paranoia really sunk that battleship.
